Red meat and the health problems

Meat has a lot of proteins, minerals, and vitamins. But red meat is also loaded with saturated fats. No more than 90 grams of red or processed meat should be had in a day, warns NHS.

Red meats can raise blood pressure, cause heart diseases, and lead to obesity, diabetes type 2, and constipation. The latter is a high risk for bowel cancer.

Other sources of proteins such as beans, legumes, pulses, whole grains, fish, and eggs should be also consumed for a wholesome diet.

Protein digestion and metabolism need more energy and can cause the consumer to sweat. This is called diet-induced thermogenesis.

The body temperature also rises. A large piece of steak can increase the heat in an individual and cause him or her to start sweating profusely to remove the heat from the body. This can be uncomfortable.

Additionally, since energy from the body is diverted to metabolizing proteins, the person feels sleepy and lethargic after having large amounts of red meat.

Therefore, enjoy red meat but only in small portions. A healthy balanced diet in moderation is the key to good health.
