Biography

Setting Up

When Ben was 14 years old, he initially began working out in his neighborhood gym to increase his power on the rugby field. Ben commented, “I thought this was fantastic,” expressing his love for the new surroundings. However, when it came to lifting weights, he lacked a lot of expertise and experience.

Week after week, he went to the gym, but he just couldn’t figure out what he was supposed to do. As Ben put it, “I didn’t benefit because I had no idea about sets, reps, form, or what equipment to utilize. The issue was that I was there and had no idea what to do.

Ben eventually left the gym after wandering around aimlessly and testing various kinds of equipment without having any apparent purpose or goal. After he left, he found it difficult to fully comprehend the fundamentals of weight training.

The only true knowledge I had when I eventually left was that I believed I wanted to become a fireman after high school.

Rugby and High School Gym

Ben was lucky enough to have access to a brand-new gym that was “full of equipment” when he approached his senior year of high school. Ben was encouraged to utilize the new facilities because he was an active rugby player throughout the school.

“It was lucky that my school was able to construct a fantastic gym. The use of the gym was encouraged while playing rugby, but not actually to bulk up.

As Ben gradually gained more knowledge about exercise, specifically “aerobic fitness,” he understood that overall fitness was “the key to winning rugby matches.” The team that is the fittest has a huge edge, as Ben noted, especially considering that a game lasts 80 minutes.

Ben gained a lot of knowledge about cardiovascular fitness for sports, but he was still baffled by how to increase muscle mass and strength.

Days at University

Ben chose to stop playing rugby when he started his first year of college and devote all of his time to his academics and education.

But after some time adjusting to the university way of life, he began to worry about his overall fitness and muscle increases. Ben then decided to start exercising again. He got a push-up bar among other things for his home gym. I started to make good progress with them, Ben stated.

He began slowly, with three sets of ten, then gradually built up the volume. Ben was performing up to 10 sets of 100 reps by the time he graduated from college, “nearly every night!”

Traveling in London

Ben got so dependent on his press-up routine that he would feel terrible about himself if he missed a night. Ben decided to take things seriously at this point and joined a gym for the first time since he was 14 years old.

When he was 14 years old, it wasn’t the high-end experience he was used to. It was small, hot, oversubscribed, and a little aggressive, according to Ben.

Ben developed a fondness for the gym. He began performing deadlifts and pull-ups and “using all of the machines and free weights” after conducting additional study and years of training in various locations along the route. Ben finally began working out the manner he had always envisioned.

Ben ended up relocating during his eight years in London. During that time, he moved his membership to a facility with better equipment and a larger floor area, but he wasn’t happy with it; there was still something missing. Ben didn’t begin learning how to lift weights correctly until he found a “bare bones” gym.

It had very little luxury and no air conditioning, but it did include a hex bar and larger dumbbells. It was fantastic, and I adored it.

Residing in Northern England

Ben thought it was time for a change of scenery after being in London for several years. He relocated to Leeds, England, in the nation’s north.

Ben was looking for a new gym and discovered exactly what he needed—another “no frills” gym. In his new gym, he felt right at home and welcomed right away. It had tons of high-quality equipment, he claimed. Despite not being brand-new, it was proper, reliable equipment. Ben had no trouble adjusting to life in the North of England.

He could have found anything he needed at the gym; it was a traditional gym with every piece of apparatus imaginable. But it was always chilly. To say there were fewer holes in cartoon cheese would be an understatement, as Ben put it. That place was always chilly.

“When you were inside, you could always see your breath, even if the weather outside was just a little bit mild. I had never previously worn a jacket or a fleece while working out in a gym. Now I had.

Indoor gym

Ben decided it was time to acquire his own set of weights and create a home gym after loving but also hating the gym due to its chilly rooms and outdated equipment.

He finally discovered his training “sweet spot” after getting his chest press and squat rack. Ben now had the opportunity to put all that he had learned into practice while relaxing at home with his cat Molly after years of experience gained from his travels throughout the UK.
