Recently Southern California has a new fast food restaurant of plant based foods. Comedian Kevin Hart owns the Hart House, the new vegan fast food outlet. He is planning big and soon more of such restaurants would open in the USA. An analysis of the nutritional value of foods served there! How healthy is the new food corner in LA?

Actor and comedian Kevin Hart has opened a new vegan fast food outlet in Los Angeles in California. This restaurant serves only plant based foods and is totally vegan. The actor named it Hart House and he has big plans on it for the future. There will be more of such food outlets from him in different parts of the USA. Hart House CEO Andy Hooper put up a release in which he said:

We’ve curated delicious, craveable food you know and love like burgers, shakes, nuggets and more,” 

“Our menu is the future of the industry; Hart House is revolutionizing quick service restaurants now and delivering a ground-breaking culinary experience that shatters the expectations of what plant-based food can be.”

There are plant based substitutes of crispy “chicken” sandwiches, cheeseburgers, fries and milkshakes.

The Single Burg’r

It has plant-sourced patty with lettuce, tomato, onion and the signature sauce of the Hart House. One can ask for plant origin American cheese and also go double with the burger. The single burger with no cheese has 542 calories, 33 grams of total fat, and 14 grams saturated fat. There is 3.5 grams sugar, 774 mg of sodium, 44 grams of carbohydrates, and 16 grams protein. The sodium and saturated fats and calories are high and therefore it is unhealthy.

The Crispy Chick’n Sandwich

It is created from breaded pea protein and has in its layers plant-based mayo and pickles. The deluxe version has vegan honey mustard and kale crunch slaw in it. It is also hot and spicy. This regular vegan sandwich has 638 calories with 30 grams total fat and 4.5 grams saturated fat. There is 12 grams sugar, 1510 mg of sodium, 67 grams of carbohydrates, and 25 grams protein. It has more protein and less saturated fat. But its sodium content is very high. Its carbs, sugar, and calories also are quite high. One can have it occasionally but not daily.

The Kale Crunch Salad

It has baby kale, carrots, Brussels sprouts, red and napa cabbage with radicchio. There is blood orange vinaigrette on the top. It has 227 calories with 20 grams total fat and 3 grams saturated fat. The sugar is 3 grams with 314 mg sodium, 7 grams carbohydrates and 16 grams protein. This has good proportions of all ingredients and food categories and is healthy.

The Chocolate Milkshake

Hart house serves chocolate, vanilla, strawberry and Oreo milkshakes. 12 ounces of chocolate milkshake provides 478 calories and 15 grams total fat. 12 grams saturated fat is present in it with 64 grams sugar and 247 milligrams sodium. Carbs are 81 grams and protein 5 grams. Sugar is quite high in this and could cause long-term problems if eaten regularly. Occasionally having it as a treat is OK.

Therefore, except the salad which is healthy at this fast food restaurant, other things should be had in moderation there.
