This baked spaghetti casserole is a go-to dish for my family because it’s simple to make and bursting with flavor.

This creamy casserole is filled with all of our favorite Italian ingredients, from Easy Meatballs to a classic bruschetta, and we hope you do too!

This recipe is much more straightforward than the Million Dollar Spaghetti Casserole, which includes a substantial amount of cheese in the spaghetti mixture itself (such as cream cheese, cottage cheese, or ricotta).

Instead, this recipe only calls for pasta and sauce, with just a touch of cheese sprinkled on top.

The Step-by-Step Guide to Making Baked Spaghetti Casserole

To make a simple Baked Spaghetti Casserole, all you need to do is prepare the meat sauce, combine it with the spaghetti, and bake the dish until it is bubbly.

This baked spaghetti is the ideal dish to bring to a potluck because the preparation may be done the night before and then it is cooked just before serving.

  1. Cook the meat and onions together. Simmer the mixture after adding the tomato sauce and the vegetables.
  2. After stirring it in, arrange the spaghetti in a dish.
  3. Put cheese on top, and then bake it!

The golden brown and crispiness of the cheese on top contribute an incredible flavor.

It is important to make sure that your spaghetti is cooked to an al dente texture because the noodles will continue to cook somewhat while they are in the oven, and you do not want them to get mushy.

You have complete creative control over the final flavor of the sauce thanks to the flexibility of this recipe.

If you do not like green pepper, you may exclude it from the recipe and replace it with sliced mushrooms or zucchini instead. Adding more or less sauce, depending on your taste, is a simple way to tailor this recipe to your preferences.

How Long Does It Take for  Spaghetti Casserole to Bake?

Because both the pasta and the sauce are already hot when I start putting this dish together, the baking time in the oven is typically between 20 and 25 minutes.

It will take a little bit longer if you prepare it ahead of time and put it in the refrigerator. Take it out of the refrigerator about half an hour before you put it in the oven, and bake it for approximately half an hour, or until it’s hot in the middle.

Do You Serve Spaghetti Casserole That Has Been Baked?

Because the golden crust of cheese that forms on top of cooked spaghetti is my favorite part, I never cover it. When you cover this meal, it creates steam, which can cause the spaghetti to be overcooked.

For a quick and easy meal, serve this dish alongside a side salad and garlic toast. This simple casserole is wonderful when reheated and works wonderfully when frozen.
