Despite not being Irish, Irish potato candy is popular around St. Patrick’s Day (it was actually developed in Philadelphia). They got their name from the way Irish potatoes looked.

They are a type of coconut treat that tastes something like a coconut macaroon and is covered in ground cinnamon. Although you may buy these goodies, making them at yourself is very simple.

Ingredients

BASE Cream cheese and butter are combined to make the dessert’s base, which is then sweetened with confectioners’ sugar.

FLAVOR Along with vanilla, coconut adds flavor in addition to texture.

COATING These are coated with ground cinnamon, a flavorful and savory spice, before being rolled in it. If you’d like to give them a slight chocolate flavor, you may roll them in cocoa powder (or combine the two).

  • 4 cups powdered sugar
  • 2 ¼ cups coconut flakes
  • 1-2 tablespoons cinnamon

  1. Cream the cream cheese, butter, and vanilla extract together in a mixer.
  2. Slowly pour in the powdered sugar and whisk the mixture until it becomes a thick dough.
  3. Put the coconut in and stir with a wooden spoon.
  4. Take a small bit of dough and form it into a marble-sized ball.
  5. Roll the ball in the cinnamon after placing it in a small basin.
