A cold and pleasant beverage like watermelon lemonade is ideal for sipping on the porch on a hot summer day.

You should make this dish for your next BBQ feast or just to unwind and enjoy with friends on your patio because it’s so simple to make and tasty. It can also be easily spiked with vodka.

This will undoubtedly become your favorite summertime beverage thanks to the ideal amount of sweetness, a hint of sharp lemon, and refreshing watermelon flavor.

Nothing quite captures the essence of summer like watermelon and, of course, cool lemonade. Since I can remember, I’ve been preparing homemade strawberry lemonade since I genuinely LOVE lemonade and limeade. It’s chilly, icy, and cooling!

It’s incredibly simple and delicious to spice up classic lemonade by adding watermelon. For any hot summer day, these two flavors go perfectly together.

Fresh lemons are the first ingredient in this watermelon lemonade recipe. If you want some for garnish, make sure to pick up a couple of extra at the supermarket as you’ll need 3 whole lemons to juice.

Make sure your lemons are at room temperature so you can get the most juice from them (or microwave them for about 15 seconds before juicing). Place the lemon on the counter and roll it around with some pressure before cutting and juicing.

You can also just cut lemons in half, stab a fork into the flesh, and squeeze while swinging the fork back and forth to extract the juice. I use this lemon juicer the majority of the time.

Speaking of lemons, I normally zest them first and put the zest in a small freezer bag because I will be discarding the rinds anyhow.

The zest will stay in the freezer for a few months and is excellent for adding to frostings, banana bread, or even pasta sauces.

Advice on Preparing This Recipe

  • Watermelon should be diced, blended thoroughly, and then the pulp should be strained through a fine mesh or strainer. If you enjoy pulp in your orange juice, you might also enjoy leaving some pulp in the liquid in this situation.
  • To make simple syrup, dissolve the sugar in the water. The sugar water can be heated in the microwave or on the stovetop to speed up this procedure.
  • Once the sugar has been dissolved, add a few ice cubes to cool the simple syrup and get it to the required liquid level. This will help cool your simple syrup rapidly.
  • Although using freshly squeezed lemon juice is ideal in this recipe, you may also use bottled lemon juice in a pinch. I enjoy using my lemon squeezer to complete this activity quickly and easily!
  • The watermelon will separate and sink to the bottom if left out for a few hours. It only needs a short stir to remain tasty!

Even though this recipe is alcohol-free, it’s still fantastic if you add a little vodka to make a Watermelon Lemonade Cocktail! Perfect to drink after a long day with a good book or to offer during a party.
