Who is Leonardo Pacheco?

American professional bodybuilder Leonardo Pacheco competes internationally.

In his career, he has taken part in over 20 bodybuilding competitions, winning both professional and amateur circuits.

Short Career of Leonardo Pacheco

Leonardo Pacheco’s adventure began in 1991 when he competed in the NPC Atlantic States Championships, his first significant bodybuilding competition.

Leonardo finished in a very respectable third place that day, despite not winning the trophy.

Following his debut, Leonardo competed for an additional eight years, winning nearly all of the shows in which he took part.

These triumphs included the 1999 Musclemania Championships, the 1996 NPC Eastern USA Championships, and the 1993 NPC Atlantic States Championships.

However, Leonardo decided to take a significant sabbatical from bodybuilding after winning in 1999. But it wasn’t over yet.

Leonardo Pacheco made a stage comeback at the 2007 NPC Eastern USA Bodybuilding And Figure Championships after an eight-year absence. He departed the stage with the first-place trophy, continuing his outstanding competitive record.

At this moment, Leonardo began getting ready for his career’s toughest test: obtaining the prized Pro Card.

Only three years later, in 2010, he won the NPC Nationals, accomplishing both his short- and long-term fitness goals and becoming a professional bodybuilder.

Training

Leonardo Pacheco practices intensive, volume-heavy training in the off-season, similar to the majority of other competitive bodybuilders (and with a little less volume while competing).

Nevertheless, it makes no difference to Leonardo’s training frequency phase he is in. Up to six times a week, he always works out in the gym, doing cardio every other day.

The only thing that varies is how long he does cardio when he’s getting ready for the show. Leonardo’s aerobic workouts last 20 to 30 minutes during the off-season while they can last up to an hour during the in-season.

Nutrition

The Bulking Diet

During his bulking phase, Leonardo ignores calculating calories and macros and instead concentrates on consuming nutrient-dense foods to help his muscles expand.

The foods he consumes most frequently during this time are:

  • Chicken
  • Beef
  • Eggs
  • Rice
  • Pasta
  • Oatmeal
  • Vegetables
  • Fruits
  • Walnuts
  • Olive oil

Cutting Diet

Leonardo’s diet isn’t very varied during his cutting periods, especially when he’s getting ready for a competition. He consumes largely the same items each day while cutting.

These foods make up Leonardo’s cutting diet:

  • Salmon
  • Sardines
  • Cottage cheese
  • Egg whites
  • Beans
  • Brown rice
  • Sweet potatoes
  • Dark leafy green vegetables
  • Low-glycemic fruits.

How can Leonardo Pacheco teach us something?

Leonardo had a difficult road ahead of him before receiving his Pro Card. But his perseverance and commitment to the discipline of bodybuilding ultimately brought him the results he desired.

If you want to pursue a career as a professional bodybuilder someday, keep in mind that it will take time. For Leonardo, it took more than ten years before his name was recorded in the IFBB annals.

You will eventually succeed in reaching your goal if you can remain persistent and committed throughout your trip. Like Leonardo Pacheco, who succeeded in achieving his goal to become a professional bodybuilder.
