This simple, spicy mayo spread is one of the best condiments to ever appear in a refrigerator, so double up on it! Aioli is often made with a Chipotle Aioli base and other ingredients like garlic; this simple recipe also includes some heat.

Ingredients/Variations

Chipotle Aioli You have the option of using store-bought or homemade mayonnaise. Both light and regular will work wonderfully!

SPICES Mayo is blended with cumin, garlic, and onion powder to give it a delicious flavor.

CHIPOTLE Bring it on, people! minced finely chipotle peppers. In a pinch, the chipotle powder will do.

VARIATIONS Use sriracha or dice up some jalapenos if there isn’t any chipotle powder or peppers! You may adjust the heat to your liking.

Making Chipotle Aioli

It will be ready on 1, 2, and 3!

  1. Salt and garlic should be mashed until paste forms.
  2. Add mashed garlic and the rest of the ingredients to a bowl (per the recipe below).
  3. Add salt and pepper, then cover and chill.

How to Keep?

  • Chipotle aioli should be kept in a mason jar or other airtight container. It ought to last two to three days. Give the aioli a good shake or mix before using it. It is not worth the risk to preserve garlic for a longer period since it could create the deadly toxin botulism.
  • You can also add this aioli to soup, stew, or stock! also fantastic in a batch of mashed potatoes!

  • ¼ teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 tablespoon chipotle pepper* finely minced
  • 1 teaspoon fresh lime juice

Instructions

  1. Salt and a garlic clove should be placed on a cutting board. Use a fork to mash until paste forms.
  2. In a bowl, combine mashed garlic with the rest of the ingredients.
  3. Mix thoroughly and add salt and pepper to taste.

In the fridge, this will last two to three days. It is not worth the risk to preserve garlic for a longer period since it could create the deadly toxin botulism.

You can use 1/2 teaspoon of chipotle powder in place of the chipotle pepper, or to taste.

To increase the heat, add extra chipotle pepper.
