These truly rank among our favorite sweets! People adore them and are consistently shocked to discover how straightforward they are.

Everywhere I take them, people of all ages adore them. My brother, who dislikes desserts, is constantly requesting that I make these.

It’s impossible to make a mistake with this recipe. They’re made of all scrumptious ingredients: Oreos, cream cheese, and chocolate, so it only makes sense!

This is an excellent place to start if you’ve never made truffles or dipped candy in chocolate before! The recipe is quite simple. After trying these, you’ll be addicted!

These truffles are incredibly rich and choco-licious, and the cream cheese only brings out their best qualities. Who would have thought that something so simple could be so delicious?

My personal favorite is the white chocolate-dipped Oreo ball because it maintains the original cookies and cream flavor. You can get a double chocolate flavor, although obviously chocolate is also excellent.

Try the peppermint version for the holiday season (see the photo at the bottom of this piece).

You only need to add a little peppermint extract to the truffle mixture and top them off with crushed candy canes before the chocolate hardens.

Oreo Truffles Require The Following Ingredients:

What makes this recipe so great? Only THREE items are required:

  • Oreos – don’t use double stuff or flavored Oreos, just the standard work best here.
  • Cream cheese – avoid using low fat. Standard full-fat cream cheese will give the best flavor and consistency.
  • Chocolate melts – I like to use Ghirardelli but for a cheaper alternative you can use the Wilton candy melts or almond bark.

Prepare The Peppermint Version If You Choose.

  • For garnish, you’ll also need crushed candy canes and peppermint extract.

What Tools Are Required For Oreo Balls Oreo Truffles?

  • There are three methods to combine Oreo balls:
  • processing food (my preferred method)
  • electric hand mixer or stand mixer
  • using a wooden spoon and mixing by hand in a bowl

Creating Oreo Balls:

  • Prepare a baking sheet: Line an 18 by 13-inch baking sheet with wax paper or parchment paper.
  • Crush Oreos: Place 36 Oreos in a food processor (entire cookie, don’t remove cream filling) and pulse to fine crumbs. Alternatively, this can be done by hand by placing Oreos in a gallon-size resealable bag and crushing them to fine crumbs.
  • Mix Oreos with cream cheese: add cream cheese to a food processor, and pulse in bursts until the mixture is combined. Alliteratively you can do this using a stand mixer (set on low speed), electric mixer or by hand, just mix until the mixture is well blended.
  • Shape mixture into balls: Scoop mixture out about 1 Tbsp at a time and form into 1-inch balls then align on prepared cookie sheet.
  • Chill: Place truffles in the freezer for 15 minutes. Meanwhile, crush the remaining 3 Oreos.
  • Melt chocolate: Melt almond bark or chocolate according to the directions on the package.
  • Dip truffles: Remove truffles from the freezer and dip in melted chocolate use a spoon to pour some chocolate over the top then lift and allow excess chocolate to run off.
  • Let set: Return to baking sheet, immediately sprinkle tops with crushed Oreos if desired, then allow chocolate to set. Alternatively, you can drizzle with melted chocolate for a nice finishing touch.

The Best Way To Store Oreo Truffles Is?

Oreo balls should be kept in the refrigerator in a tightly sealed container due to the cream cheese they contain. When serving, the food can then sit at room temperature for up to 2 hours.

Can You Freeze Oreo Balls Oreo Truffles?

Yes, they can be frozen for up to three months in an airtight container. In the refrigerator, defrost overnight.

Advice On Oreo Balls Oreo Truffles Recipe

  • Use plain Oreos, not Double Stuf. For these, the double stuff has too much cream filling.
  • Use regular cream cheese here instead of light cream cheese. Light is less dense and rich.
  • Lacking a food processor? A rolling pin can also be used to thoroughly crush the Oreo cookies in a sizable resealable bag.
  • Before attempting to dip them, cool the Oreo filling; otherwise, pieces of Oreo will break off into the chocolate.
  • I like to dip things in chocolate using a fork or other dipping implement, then use a spoon to drizzle more chocolate over them before lifting and letting the extra drip off.

Regarding The Peppermint Version

  1. In a stand mixer, combine the cream cheese and 1 1/2 tsp of peppermint extract first, then add the Oreo crumbs and proceed as instructed.
  2. Chocolates are dipped, then crushed candy canes or starlight mints are instantly sprinkled on top (instead of more crushed Oreos).
