Who Is Marius Dohne?

A former bodybuilder from South Africa who specializes in online transformation is named Marius Dohne.

When he was at his best, Marius was renowned for both his enormous and well-balanced physique and his success in bodybuilding stages all over the world.

Marius, however, was identified as having stage 5 kidney failure in 2016. Despite being able to bounce back and lead a normal life once more, Marius no longer competes and instead uses his love of bodybuilding to mentor other aspiring athletes.

When Marius Dohne was a teenager, he fell in love with bodybuilding.

By the time he was 17, he was working out in the gym almost every day and had his sights set on becoming a professional bodybuilder.

This quickly came to pass; at the age of 19, Marius won his first competition, and by 2002, he was competing in prestigious competitions like NABBA.

The Debut Of Mr. Olympia.

As his bodybuilding career developed, Marius went on to win numerous competitions. These comprised;

  • 2007 WPF World-Universe HeavyWeight, 1st / Overall Winner
  • 2008 NABBA World Championships Tall, 1st
  • 2011 Tampa Bay Pro Open, 1st

Marius didn’t confront his greatest challenge until 2011 when he competed on the Mr. Olympia stage. At the Olympia, Marius ultimately placed a respectable 14th.

Retirement And Renal Issues

Marius learned he had kidney issues following the 2011 Mr. Olympia.

He decided to stop pushing his body, at least until he found a solution to his kidney issues. Marius temporarily stopped competing in bodybuilding as a result.

Comeback

In 2014, Marius’ health began to improve, and he decided to return.

He participated in 4 different shows that year, finishing in the top 10 in each one.

He continued in the same way in 2015, finishing 10th at the Arnold Classic Brazil and 5th at the Arnold Sports Festival.

Kidney Failure Stage 5

In 2016, Marius competed in his final bodybuilding competition and finished 11th at the Arnold Classic South Championships.

Unfortunately, during this time, Marius’ kidney condition rapidly declined.

The worst physical pain Marius has ever experienced, he claims, was brought on by his kidneys. Later, the doctors informed Marius that the pain was a sign of stage 5 kidney failure, which was much worse.

“Stage 1, 2, 3, 4… You are unaware that you have kidney failure. Absolutely nothing is abnormal. You have the same range of motion as everyday people. Even compared to other people, you are in better shape. But when your kidneys fail in stage 5, everything happens at once.

Immediately following his diagnosis, Marius experienced several health issues. He was bedridden and afflicted with skin rashes, excruciating pain, and insomnia.

He was eventually able to recover, though, thanks to a kidney dialysis machine that helped his body get rid of toxins.

Naturally, Marius is no longer able to compete. His passion for bodybuilding, however, endures.

He now has thousands of online followers who support him in his work as an entrepreneur and transformation specialist.

Marius Dohne has always chosen to lift moderately heavy weights over those that are exceedingly heavy.

He made sure that his movements were slow and controlled while working out by paying close attention to the sensation of the muscle contraction with each rep.

“I try to move to have a strong contraction. For me, it’s more important to strike the muscle correctly and attempt to complete 12 repetitions than it is to lift heavy weights.

Nutrition (Diet Plan)

Low Protein, High Carb

Marius had a diet heavy in carbohydrates, moderate in fat, and moderate in protein when he was at his best.

Marius ate a lot of carbohydrates, which gave his muscles plenty of glycogen. He was able to continue his frequent, lengthy, and challenging workouts as a result.

“Most people are aware that I preferred a diet strong in carbohydrates. I’ve tried going the other way and tried high-fat diets and other things. However, very high carbs, moderate protein, and moderate fat are ultimately what I found to be effective.

Marius’ Kidney Problems’ Culprits

Marius was transparent about the causes of his kidney failure in one of his videos. According to him, his physicians told him that excessive protein consumption, creatine supplementation, and anti-inflammatory medication were the real problems, not anabolic steroids.

According to Marius, he frequently took anti-inflammatory medications to lessen muscle stiffness following a workout.

Marius feels that this, in addition to taking 20g of creatine daily and eating a very high protein diet, is what caused his kidney damage.
