Who is Mattie Rogers?

American professional weightlifter Mattie Rogers competes in the 69-kilogram division. She has participated in competitions including the 2017 World Weightlifting Championships, finishing in the third position.

Short Career of Mattie Rogers

Mattie Rogers didn’t always intend to become a professional weightlifter, though. She had a passion for cheerleading and gymnastics as a child. Later on, she happened about CrossFit and decided to give it a try.

After participating in CrossFit, Mattie developed a passion for weightlifting. She immediately switched to weightlifting contests, where she established a reputation by triumphing in some of the biggest contests the sport has to offer.

Although it’s a nickname, “Mattie” is what people have called me since I was a baby. I’m never addressed by my true name. Another one is “Mattie Cakes,” which my previous cheerleading coach gave me. Now, I’m only known by that name by some people.

Biography of Mattie Rogers

Mattie’s Childhood

Martha Ann Rogers, also known as Mattie Rogers, was born in Florida in August 1995. Mattie enjoyed playing sports as a child. Her parents, especially her football-loving father, pushed her to maintain a healthy lifestyle.

Mattie soon achieved success in gymnastics and cheering and was happy with her accomplishments. Her father was sadly no longer available to support her because he, unfortunately, passed away in 2001 following a protracted fight with colorectal cancer.

The event undoubtedly devastated Mattie and her family. She didn’t allow this to break her, though; instead, she used her father’s cancer battle to teach her a valuable lesson.

In addition to having athletic genes, she remarked, “Watching his strength during his early age-related battle with cancer has given me an example of what true strength is.”

From Weightlifting To Gymnastics

Mattie continued to train in cheerleading and gymnastics for several years. When she was 17, she then started a completely new path in CrossFit.

Mattie became fascinated by the outcomes she observed and quickly fell in love with weight lifting. One year later, she developed an interest in competitive weightlifting as a result of this.

Debutant Contests

What had first been Mattie’s new interest quickly developed into a full-time job. She moved on to weightlifting competitions after a year of weight training.

She competed for the first time in 2014 at the IWF Pan-American Junior Championships, wowing the crowd with her performance. Later, Mattie admitted, “I was totally captivated and never looked back.”

After that, she went on to compete at the senior level for the first time, placing 15th at the 2015 World Championships. With a total of 226 kg lifted throughout the competition, Mattie broke her record in weightlifting.

These accomplishments allowed Mattie to advance swiftly in the weightlifting competition.

Four Titles in One Year

In 2016, Mattie came incredibly close to earning a spot in the Olympics. She won both the Olympic Games Trials and the 2016 National Championships, however, she was not selected to compete for the United States of America.

Mattie took the misfortune in stride and went on to win three more competitions that year. The American Open, the Mexico City World University Championships, and the National University Championships were among them.

Choosing New Goals

Riding the high of her accomplishments, Mattie focused on taking on new tasks in 2017. The World Weightlifting Championships was one of them.

Mattie began working toward her objective by competing in the 2017 National Championships in Chicago, where she took first place. In the other competition, Mattie placed second in the Pan-American Championships.

The Bronze Medalist

After weeks of training, Mattie’s opportunity to participate at the 2017 World Weightlifting Championships finally arrived.

She finished third overall, earning the bronze medal in the process. This was a great accomplishment for Mattie, who was only 21 years old at the time of the event, even though she did not win the competition.

With this accomplishment, Mattie rose to prominence in the weightlifting community. There will undoubtedly be a lot more from her in the future to see and hear.

It is essentially equivalent to stating, “Well, I want this and that, but I don’t want to work for it,” when someone complains about being stressed out or having a lot to do. Screw that. Be aware of your goals and pursue them.

Exercise twice a day

The focus of Mattie’s training is on her two daily workouts.

She normally performs pushing exercises and squats in the morning. may enhance her muscular development and strength.

She will perform technical exercises like pulls, isolation presses, and accessory work in the afternoon. These exercises increase Mattie’s mobility and stamina while also assisting her in maintaining proper form during training.

Nutrition

Dietary Method by Mattie Rogers

When it comes to Mattie’s diet, there is no secret. Consistency and sacrifice are crucial. She only consumes healthful foods, avoiding dairy products, artificial additives, and processed foods.

I eat cleanly, Mattie says of her diet. (Except when I’m trying to lose weight for a competition) I’ve never measured calories or carbs; instead, I just eat when my body tells me to. I don’t measure my food now and I don’t think I ever will. Matthew Rogers

Influences and Idols

The two people that had the most impact on Mattie’s life were her father and her CrossFit trainer.

Mattie uses her father’s chemotherapy bracelet to support her in winning competitions at each of her weightlifting bouts.

What Mattie Rogers can teach us?

What Mattie Rogers teaches us is that you should rise above the obstacles life throws your way rather than allowing them to drag you down.

Being that her father passed away when she was just six, Mattie’s childhood was everything but ideal. But Mattie knew that she couldn’t let this ruin her even at such an early age.

Instead, she learned from her father’s cancer battle and used it as motivation to get better.

Mattie Rogers’ perspective allowed her to achieve the degree of success she has today. Her experience demonstrates to us how challenges in life may either “make you” or “break you.” It’s ultimately up to you to choose which one it will be.
