Who is Paige Hathaway?

Paige Hathaway went from being a little town child in Minnesota to an online superstar after growing up, becoming a fitness icon.

Her love of physical fitness has inspired others to pursue their own goals by enabling her to compete and work as a personal trainer.

Paige began working out in 2011, and since then, millions of people have been following her fitness progress online. She has won several bikini competitions and has been featured in numerous fitness publications, including Women’s Health.

But it wasn’t always easy for Paige–she experienced a very rough childhood. Here is her account:

I once felt so embarrassed. I despised my home country. Looking back, though, I can now see how it has shaped who I am. It increased my desire for myself significantly.

Household Concerns And One’s Early Years

Paige’s family was quite unstable, and she was raised in Minnesota in the north of the United States. She relied on food stamps to get by while living in a trailer with her alcoholic father.

After her parents’ ultimate divorce, Paige, then 4 years old, was thrust into a custody dispute.

Due to her mother’s desperation to keep Paige, Paige was taken along when she departed to live with a man she had met online in Texas. It didn’t take long for the police to locate her mother and hand Paige over to her grandmother.

But her misery had not yet come to an end. Paige spent the next 13 years of her life switching between two families and foster homes.

Her Initial Forays With Fitness

Paige Hathaway started working multiple jobs as soon as she was old enough to pay for college. She was passionate about working out even while she was a student, and whenever she could, she trained in the campus gym.

But she had never given her diet any thought. Growing up, Paige had hardly any muscle tone and was always quite skinny.

Nutrition had never been a top focus for her even though she had played soccer and remained active throughout college.

She began to realize that being excessively thin could be just as harmful as being overweight. Paige developed a new goal to be a fit and powerful woman after being dissatisfied with her appearance.

She was first motivated by this to start living a healthy lifestyle.

Submitting To Her First Contest

Paige started learning more about nutrition after hearing about bikini competitions from a personal trainer she saw in her gym. She was even more inspired to be strong and fit after speaking with the trainer.

She didn’t hesitate long before choosing to compete in the Ronnie Coleman Classic, her maiden show. She increased the rigor of her workouts.

Paige started training and challenging her body more than she had ever done in the following four months. There was a dash against time to get ready for the stage.

The day of the tournament had finally come for Paige. She entered the stage of the largest NPC statewide competition in America after months of diligent training.

Paige Hathaway came in second, missing out on the first place reward, but she still received a podium spot. She had gained more than just pride from the experience, though. Paige was eager for further exposure after realizing how much she had earned from the competition.

Through social media, she set out to motivate others.

Paige became the spokesperson for a supplement brand after contacting nutrition and bodybuilding companies.

Because of how quickly her fan base developed and how many people expressed support for her advancement, she realized the power of social media.

Not content with this new visibility, she decided to start an Instagram account in 2015 to increase her fan base. She discovered a large following almost immediately who liked her training and physique photos.

She didn’t stop there, though.

Paige decided to launch a membership website and pursue a career in personal training while on a high from her Instagram success.

To maintain her fan following, she develops tailored workout and diet plans for her clientele and posts images and videos on her website.

“As I worked to establish a reputation in the fitness industry, I also became aware of the influence and power of social media.

I was aware that by merely sharing who I am and my fitness journey, I could inspire others and find a way to connect with them.

TRAINING

Paige Hathaway is a big advocate of plyometrics whenever she is at home. But she always makes the trip to the gym, where she works out several different muscle groups at once.

She enjoys high repetitions as well; typically, she keeps to 10 to 25 every set, unless she is working on her legs, in which case she may go up to 50. Her preferred workouts focus on her legs and bottom, which she works out the most.

She fits in abs three times a week, on whichever days she feels greatest, in addition to her training schedule.

Except on leg days, Paige always finishes her workouts with 15 to 35 minutes of steady state cardio to ensure she maintains her fitness. She takes a day off at the end of the week to ensure that she doesn’t overwork her body and to allow it to relax.

A typical training week would look like this:

  • Monday – Legs (Heavy Weights)
  • Tuesday – Shoulders and Back
  • Wednesday – Legs (Plyometrics)
  • Thursday – Shouders and Chest
  • Friday – Back and Biceps
  • Saturday – Chest, and Triceps
  • Sunday – Rest Day

Personal fitness started to naturally and healthily recover. I fell in love with lifting very immediately.

NUTRITION

For the majority of the year, Paige maintains a strict diet to stay in shape. Red bell peppers are her preferred healthy food.

She does, however, allow herself to indulge once a week; on these days, she likes to eat cheese pizza, chocolate, and froyo.

“I need a cheat day because when I am on, I work even harder. Pizza is undoubtedly my go-to food, any toppings allowed.

For Paige, a normal day of eating will resemble something like this:

  • Breakfast – Egg whites and oatmeal pancakes with peanut butter
  • Snack 1 – 2 chicken strips with a tablespoon of salsa
  • Lunch – 2 slices of Ezekiel bread, 2 cups of spinach, 1 cup chopped chicken with Wishbone balsamic vinegar, 1 small apple
  • Snack 2 – 1 scoop of protein with water, 5 celery sticks with 2 tablespoons of peanut butter
  • Evening Meal – 4 oz tilapia, 1 cup asparagus

“I was aware that if you desire something, you must put up the necessary effort to achieve it. Don’t wait for the door to be opened. Build your door, your road, and your entrance. Hold yourself accountable and give yourself authority.

Anyone can succeed, no matter their background or upbringing, as Paige Hathaway has demonstrated. She struggled with numerous issues as a young child, but she overcame them to become a fitness celebrity.
