Model and bikini contestant Rachel Vera Shimon was born in Russia and raised in the United States.

She first got involved in fitness in 2011, when she began working out to develop a stronger and more attractive body.

Despite her little knowledge of English and the fact that she suddenly found herself in a completely new environment, Rachel’s resourcefulness and curiosity allowed her to rapidly adjust to the new country.

When she was still a child and still living in Russia, she developed a love for fitness. That connection to physical activity only deepened after she immigrated to the United States.

She participated in every sport offered by her schools, including basketball, football, volleyball, and track & field.

Rachel loved the rivalry and the sensation of pushing her body to its limits, even as a teen. Rachel started working out and lifting weights after finishing high school.

She didn’t start training seriously, though, until 2011 to develop a physically attractive body.

Rachel began to contemplate competing in a bodybuilding competition after giving birth to her baby in 2013. She claimed she was prepared for a “greater challenge” after spending the past two years in the gym building an outstanding physique.

Following a few local competitions where she experienced competing, Rachel entered her largest tournament to that point—the 2015 NPC USA Championships. She astonished everyone by taking home fourth place because she was an outsider.
