Sarah’s road hasn’t been simple, though; Sarah Ramadan battled anorexia nervosa and almost passed away as a result of the mental illness.

Biography

Getting Thinner

Sarah was born and raised in Canada, where she developed a strong desire to attain excellence in whatever she did. Sarah’s lofty expectations, however, led to her disappointment because she fell short in several areas.

But in 2009, things only got worse.

At the age of 14, Sarah decided to work on creating the body of her dreams because she thought that doing so would put her in “a condition of calm.”

The Canadian thought that cutting calories would help her build a terrific physique, but she was never content after seeing her weight continue to drop.

Anorexia

For the following five years, Sarah continued to starve herself in the hopes of obtaining her desired weight. However, the little girl’s lack of fitness expertise nearly lost her life.

Sarah received a formal diagnosis of anorexia nervosa in 2011. (a serious mental health condition). She needed immediate medical attention, so she was sent to the hospital.

She later spent 7 months receiving intensive care due to a risk of cardiac arrest.

By 2014, when she was 19 years old, the Canadian’s health forced her to live in a wheelchair because her body could no longer support her skeleton.

Sarah was in danger of committing herself at this time by rejecting the help of her family and the medical staff.

The Returning Path

After Sarah nearly died from anorexia nervosa that year, she started to fight back. She finally saw that restricting her food intake wasn’t the solution to her issues, but rather the root of them.

So, with the aid of her doctor, the Canadian started on the path to recovery. She started following a nutritious diet that nutritionists had developed, and by the end of the year, she had attained a healthy body weight.

“I had to gain an immense amount of weight that winter, but I had no clue where to start. However, like anything I ever did, I naturally sought guidance from my mentor—my brother.”

Beginning a Fitness Journey

In 2015, Sarah left the hospital and was back at home, where she was being helped by her close friends and family. At this time, Sarah’s brother, an amateur bodybuilder with sound knowledge of fitness and nutrition, stepped in to help Sarah achieve her ideal figure.

Soon after starting to use weights at the gym, the Canadian saw significant improvement in her physique.

Sarah, who is proud of her progress, established social media accounts on Instagram and YouTube under the handle “FightForGrowth” to educate people about the risks associated with eating disorders.

By 2017, Sarah had developed into a social media phenomenon. Her admirers from all over the world were moved by her narrative and amazed by her transformation from an anorexic teen to a fitness icon.

Nutrition

Sarah has personal experience with the impact that nutrition may have on one’s life due to her prior anorexia nervosa illness.

She strongly supports the IIFYM (If It Fits Your Macros) philosophy, allowing herself to indulge in her favorite meals as long as she keeps within her calorie and macro-restriction limits.

The Canadian attempts to eat five meals a day to maintain a high metabolism and stay slender.

Aladdin, Sarah’s brother, is credited with being the primary motivator for her to start living a healthy lifestyle. Aladdin inspired Sarah to lift weights in the gym to achieve the body of her dreams.

What Sarah Can Teach Us?

Our lesson from Sarah’s experience should be to never give up in life. Sarah Ramadan had anorexia nervosa, a dangerous mental illness, and was on the verge of passing away because she had grown too weak.

She was able to completely recover from her ailment and achieve her ideal figure by adopting a balanced diet and working out in the gym.
