Discover how to create a stunning fruit platter that you can bring to your next get-together or party!

This fruit tray, which is always popular, is stacked to the brim with fresh fruit, cheese, olives, and almonds.

This fresh fruit tray is very stunning, don’t you think? This vibrant assortment of fruits, cheeses, and spreads along with snacks is something that I have been quite smitten with as of late.

I’m going to share it with you today because I think it would make a nice last-minute appetizer for a Labor Day party or barbecue, but the truth is that it would also make a lovely simple supper idea.

On warm summer evenings when I don’t feel like cooking, I slice up some fresh fruit, grab a handful of herbs from the porch, and then layer all of those ingredients into a fruit and cheese platter like the one you see above.

Jack and I take pleasure in combining the savory cheese, crackers, and aromatic herbs with the fruit that is savory, sweet, and juicy. It’s uncomplicated, which I appreciate, and delectable.

The following is not a recipe in the traditional sense; rather, it is a collection of suggestions and ideas for making your own late summer fruit tray.

I really hope that you enjoy it, regardless of whether you serve it at a party or just for a supper with some friends.

Choosing Fruit for Platter

It goes without saying that the cornerstone of a fantastic fruit platter is delicious fruit. Peaches, nectarines, cherries, berries, melon, figs, grapes, and so many other varieties of fruit may all be found in their prime right now, in the late summer.

Utilize whatsoever kinds of fruit that appear to be in the best condition at the local market or store.

Keep in mind that you’ll need to do some shopping a few days in advance if you want to add stone fruits to your platters, such as peaches, nectarines, plums, or apricots.

This is because stone fruits ripen more slowly than other types of fruit. Because these fruits are typically sold before they have reached their full ripeness, they may require some more time to ripen on your kitchen counter.

When you are ready to put the fruit on the platter, make sure that you do not cut any of the fruits that are easily bite-sized, such as berries and cherries.

Larger fruits, such as melons, peaches, and nectarines, should be sliced or cut into wedges before serving.

Everything should be easy to eat with your hands, so chop the fresh fruit into shapes that are manageable even when you don’t have any utensils.

Additional Suggestions for Fruit Platters

After you have finished preparing the fruit, you may then proceed to add other components to your platter in order to create a range of flavors and textures.

It’s important to me to pick something from each of these categories, at the very least:

  • Cheese. Use a combination of hard and soft cheeses whenever you get the chance. I utilized white cheddar, blue cheese, and herb goat cheese for this board, which resulted in a really beautiful variety of textures and flavors thanks to the combination of the three kinds of cheese. Before you begin to arrange the cheeses on the platter, it is recommended that you slice any hard cheeses, such as cheddar, on a cutting board. That way, they’ll be simple to seize and savor whenever you like.
  • Spreads and preserves, such as jams. A deliciously sweet counterpoint to the saltiness of the cheese is provided by the use of jams and spreads, in addition to the fresh fruit. Jam made with figs or tart cherries is one of my favorites.
  • Olives. This combination of sweet, fresh, and funkiness is heightened by the briny bite that they bring to the party.
  • Something to provide a bit of crunch. Add something crunchy to your party tray to complete the look. Along with roasted chickpeas, toasted almonds and cashews are some of my favorite nuts and seeds. In addition, you will need crackers to accompany the cheese and jam that you have selected.
  • Herbs just picked. Herbs like basil and mint pair wonderfully with all of these summer fruits.
