I’m a jalapeno popper addict! A rich, creamy cheese filling is placed inside of half-shaved fresh jalapenos, which are then covered with a crunchy Panko coating.

The ideal game-day snack, these poppers are cooked until brown and bubbling.

Crispy, creamy, spicy, and cheesy combine in this simple Baked Jalapeno Poppers recipe to create the ideal mouthful. absolutely the finest appetizer ever, too!

My daughter’s all-time favorite recipe, Jalapeno Popper Dip, is also the one I’m requested to bring to every party.

Any way, shape, or form, jalapenos are my favorite! Homemade poppers are simple to make and taste far better than restaurant or frozen store-bought poppers!

Cutting a Jalapeno

Please, please, please, please, do not chop these without gloves on (and do not touch your face). I can attest from personal experience that pepper oil burns on your hands are VERY unpleasant.

The seeds and inner membranes of jalapenos contain spice.

Remove the entire (light-colored) inner membrane and seeds from the recipe to lessen the heat. Leave a small portion of the membrane if you enjoy strong heat.

I attempt to leave the stem on both ends of the jalapenos’ cuts when I make them into poppers by cutting them lengthwise (mainly for appearance).

To prepare jalapeno poppers, chop the peppers:

  1. Don your gloves!
  2. Jalapenos should be cut in half lengthwise.
  3. Seeds and membranes should be removed using a tiny spoon and thrown away.

Making Baked Jalapeno Poppers: A Recipe

Three components are necessary for Baked Jalapeno Poppers: the jalapeno itself, a creamy filling, and bread.

Jalapenos:

Clearly! We cut them in half and use fresh (as mentioned above). You can also make these with baby bell peppers, which are mild if someone in your party couldn’t stand any spiciness (like my husband). Create a few of each!

Cheesy Filling:

Cream cheese serves as the foundation, and I add sharp cheddar for taste. You can choose to include or exclude the chives and a dash of garlic powder that I also add.

Chives (or a pinch of onion powder, if you want) offer the perfect amount of onion flavor because, in my opinion, green onions have a touch too much of it.

You can even use your personal favorites, like cilantro or crisp grilled bacon!

Crispy Breading:
Traditional deep-fried poppers have a breaded coating. Crispy breading It doesn’t seem to be worth the time or effort to try to cover the entire jalapeno with crumbs while preparing baked poppers, in my opinion.

As an alternative, I prepare a quick Panko topping to sprinkle on top for the ideal crunch! Simply omit the bread crumbs if you want to make keto Baked Jalapeno Poppers for your low-carb guests!

Optional:

Baked Jalapeno Poppers can be topped with so many incredible things! To make Bacon Wrapped Poppers, omit the bread crumbs and simply wrap the poppers in bacon.

Include your preferred ingredients, such as onions, Monterey jack cheese, ground meat, or sausage. The sky is the limit!

They are frequently breaded and deep-fried when ordered at a restaurant, and although I adore them, I do not enjoy deep-frying.

To be completely honest, I think these baked jalapeno poppers taste even better than the fried ones. I detest the smell and the mess.

How long should you Baked Jalapeno Poppers?

I bake these poppers for approximately 20 minutes, long enough for the cheese to melt and the peppers to soften. They shouldn’t be too mushy or they will be difficult to pick up and consume.

Serve them hot off the oven with some chilled ranch or blue cheese dressing.

Jalapeno Poppers can be made a few days ahead of time or even made way in advance and frozen. Cook for 25–30 minutes at 425 °F straight from the freezer.
