Biography
Short Career Of Chad Mackay
Sports piqued Chad Mackay’s interest from a young age. His parents, who were athletes in their teens, had an impact on him.
His mother Karen was a high school fly champion, while his father Ian played in the Australian Rugby League.
Chad started experimenting with various sports and activities in high school, encouraged by his parents. He enjoyed playing baseball, tennis and even surfing.
Early Life Of Chad Mackay
During his senior year of high school, Chad Mackay became interested in weightlifting, which inspired him to pursue a profession as a training instructor.
Despite realizing that teaching physical education wasn’t for him during his last year of college, Chad went on to acquire his Bachelor’s degree in physical education.
In his own words, Chad says, “I completed my practicum during my senior year and did not enjoy it at all. As a result, I did not end up teaching a single day at a school.

CrossFit Starters
Fortunately for Chad, finding a new career he enjoyed didn’t take long. Months after receiving his university degree in 2008, Chad’s manager and gym trainer, Luke Starr, introduced him to his first CrossFit session.
Luke instructed Chad to perform 5 pull-ups, 15 air squats, and 10 push-ups in one minute of “as many rounds as possible” exercise during one of their exercises.
Chad completed three rounds and was impressed by the workout’s rigor and difficulty. From that point on, he was “hooked” on CrossFit.
Taking Up Competition
Chad entered his first CrossFit competition just a year after beginning his workout regimen. In 2009, he participated in his first competition at the Regionals in Australia.
He returned in 2010 after a year of rigorous preparation, finished in a strong second place, and earned a spot in the CrossFit Games. Chad placed 12th overall in his Games debut, which was no less spectacular.
Chad had intended to improve his performance at the Games the following year, but he was unable to do so due to a groin ailment.
Despite this, he made a great recovery from the injury in 2012 and 2013, finishing ninth and eleventh respectively.

As his career and body grew, Chad continued to achieve greater levels of success over the years.
His impressive body has made him a veteran fitness teacher and a three-time CrossFit Games competitor.

Low-Carb, High-Fat Diet
Chad Mackay consumes a diet with a lot of proteins and fats and very few carbs, which is quite close to the paleo diet.
Along with one or two protein drinks every day, he strives to eat 130 to 150 grams of protein with each meal.
Meat and vegetables make up the majority of Chad’s meals, and he also occasionally has fruits and nuts for snacks. Chad doesn’t have many “cheat dinners,” having just one a year.
