Biography
Beginnings of Fitness
Fitness became part of Jessie’s life from an early age. Her upbringing in a household where fitness was prioritized laid the groundwork for Jessie’s fitness path.
Jessie began her fitness journey by participating in Taekwondo. She had considerable potential and by the age of 13 had attained her black belt.
Jessie learned many valuable life lessons from taekwondo, including perseverance, discipline, respect, and honesty, which she used to advance in her fitness path.
She eventually started playing competitive sports, like softball.
This quickly became something she adored. After some time, Jessie started lifting weights because she wanted to get stronger for the sport. Jessie emphasizes how softball has influenced her fitness journey:
I don’t know if I was ever particularly good at softball, but I enjoyed playing, so I took it pretty seriously. I loved being rough and felt strong because I was a catcher.
When Jessie started her new life at college, her fitness journey came to an abrupt halt.
Experiencing a Setback
Jessie had a setback in her quest for health during her time in college and chose to put more of an emphasis on her studies. Leaving her competitive sports days behind, Jessie said:
“After high school, I stopped up playing sports to focus on my degree and profession in graphic design, but shortly after, I picked up yoga and golf.
I’ll remain with those two forever because they are so beneficial both psychologically and physically.
Jessie’s time in college, however, swiftly transformed her into a typical adolescent. She had a flagrant disregard for her own wellbeing because she was constantly out partying.
Jessie regularly consumed large amounts of booze and continuously ate unhealthy meals.
Soon, this would start to have an impact on Jessie’s physical and mental health as she started to experience low self-esteem.
As time went on, Jessie began to pay little, if any, attention to fitness. She was no longer the same person who had made exercise the center of her life. But that would soon alter.
Making a Life Change
As a spectator at a bodybuilding competition, Jessie met her future husband Alex, who was taking part in the show as a competitor.
Jessie then decided that she wanted to pursue a career in bodybuilding. She then started taking action to enter the bodybuilding competition.
Jessie now understood that her life of nonstop partying had prevented her from achieving her true fitness potential.
So, she made it her goal to rekindle her enthusiasm for fitness, discovering a newfound love for weight lifting in the process.
“There’s a part of me that feels like I need to have my own goals and journey to get where I want to be. I knew I wanted to compete on that platform as soon as I saw those figure competitors.
That one instance served as my inspiration.
Competition Background
Jessie developed a strong desire to succeed on the bodybuilding scene. She started preparing for her first tournament in 2009 at this time.
Jessie’s goals, however, would be derailed by having to deal with the death of her father.
Jessie was completely devastated by this. She was no longer able to watch one of the main inspirations in her life perform on the bodybuilding stage.
Her plans to become a bodybuilder would have to wait—at least for a little while.
Jessie, however, quickly recovered and finished second in her first bodybuilding competition in 2010.
This allowed Jessie to advance her bodybuilding career, and later that year at the Contra Costa Championships, she achieved her first amateur victory.
When Jessie was able to obtain her pro card in 2012, it marked a professional high point for her.
Jessie’s realization that she was starting to establish a name for herself on the bodybuilding stage was a huge accomplishment in her life.
Present Day
Since Jessie rekindled her love for weight lifting after college, fitness has once again become a major aspect of her life. Even though Jessie leads a hectic life, she makes time for exercise.
Jessie now wants to have a good impact on other people’s life after completing her personal fitness goals and success in her bodybuilding profession.
In order to accomplish this, she turned into a competitive coach. She made it her purpose to assist others in achieving great things on their fitness journeys, just like she has.
Training
Jessie must continue her rigorous training regimen if she hopes to succeed on the bodybuilding stage.
She claims that by following this strategy, she can achieve whatever fitness objectives she sets for herself:
“I have excellent genetics, but I am aware that in order to gain an advantage, I must work hard in some areas.
I can’t use the fact that another figure girl my height with high goals is out there working out hard as an excuse not to go to the gym.
For the purpose of maximizing the building of lean muscle, Jessie concentrates on lifting large weights with few repetitions.
She lists deadlifts, hamstring curls, and pull-ups as her top three exercises, often include them in her workouts. The following two exercises are examples:
