The Simplest Recipe For Coleslaw!

I used to believe that it would need a lot of ingredients and insisted on using freshly shredded cabbage, but this recipe only calls for FOUR components and even contains a pre-shredded cabbage blend, yet it tastes delicious!

One of those go-to recipes is this cole slaw, especially in the summer when there are so many barbecues.

It complements grilled meats and hot or cold sandwiches wonderfully and is the ideal last-minute side.

  1. Make coleslaw dressing: In a small mixing bowl whisk together the mayonnaise, apple cider vinegar, and honey. If needed season with a bit of salt.
  2. Pour dressing over shredded cabbage mixture: Place shredded its mix in a large bowl then pour the dressing mixture over.
  3. Toss together: Toss to evenly coat. Easy as that!
  4. Tip: I like to serve it right away while the cabbage is nice and crisp but if want it a little more tender let it rest for 10 minutes in the fridge.

Coleslaw Keeps For How Long?

For the greatest results, I advise serving the coleslaw as soon as possible once the dressing is added because the salt and vinegar in it begin to break down the cabbage and pull the moisture out.

The dressing merely gets runnier the second day, but the leftovers are still good.

Unfortunately, freezing is not an option. Too much texture change will occur.

For preparation: dressing mixture up to three days in advance. When ready to serve, pour the cabbage mixture over.

  • A half-cup of high-quality mayonnaise
  • 1/4 cup honey (or granulated sugar)
  • 1 1/2 Tbsp apple cider vinegar
  • Salt (optional, to taste)

Instructions

  1. Mayonnaise, honey, apple cider vinegar, and a pinch or two of salt, if necessary, are combined in a small mixing dish.
  2. Coat it equally with the mayonnaise mixture by placing it in a medium mixing bowl. Serve immediately.
