$1.03 RECIPE / $0.21 SERVING
I prepared some incredible steak fries earlier this week as I wanted a dipping sauce to match.
I couldn’t just use regular ketchup, so I prepared some Comeback Sauce. It is a creamy, acidic, sweet, and savory sauce that may be used for dipping, dunking, drizzling, and smearing over just about anything.
“Comeback sauce” isn’t a misnomer. You’ll want to come back for more. Plus a lot more. AND THERE’S MORE.
WHAT IS COMEBACK SAUCE, EXACTLY?
This distinctive sauce is claimed to have started in a Greek restaurant in Mississippi, but it swiftly spread across the south.
The original sauce was made with mayonnaise, Heinz Chili Sauce (a tomato-based sauce that should not be mistaken with Sweet Chili Sauce), and additional seasonings.
This irresistible sauce has been interpreted in a variety of ways, with each person putting their own take on the original as it expanded over the region.
WHAT ARE YOU GOING TO SERVE IT WITH?
What can’t you serve it with is definitely a better question! It’s a great all-purpose dip for roasted veggies, fried dishes like french fries, chicken fingers or nuggets, or chips.
It’s also a delicious spread on burgers, fried chicken sandwiches, and wrap sandwiches. I wouldn’t mind using this as a salad dressing or in a tasty batch of coleslaw!
