Joelle Anoa’i is the daughter of WWE superstar Roman Reigns and ex-CFL and NFL footballer, Galina Becker. Reigns once stated that being a father to his children, including Joelle, whom he refers to as JoJo, is his most important job.
While Reigns may be one of the most divisive figures in WWE history, one thing is undeniably true about him: Joelle Anoa’i is a family man. On numerous occasions, Reigns has mentioned how much his eldest daughter, Joelle, means to him.
He took to Twitter after winning the WWE World Heavyweight Championship in 2015 to dedicate the victory to Joelle and wish her a happy seventh birthday.
Many other instances follow that demonstrate the current WWE Champion’s strong bond with his daughter. There are also some notable instances when Joelle made headlines.
How old is Joelle Anoa’i, Roman Reigns’ daughter?
Joelle Anoa’i, the daughter of the longest-reigning WWE Universal Champion, was born on December 14, 2008, in Tampa, Florida, and is now 14 years old.
Career
Several years before his wrestling career, Reigns became the father of Joelle. Reigns was a football player a month before his daughter, having signed with the Canadian Football League’s Edmonton Eskimos and playing for them for one season.
He left CFL in November 2008, one month before the birth of his daughter. Reigns joined the WWE in July 2010, almost two years after becoming Joelle’s father.
Siblings of Joelle
Joelle is the eldest of five children born to Reigns and Becker. Her two younger siblings are both sets of twins.
Her first twin siblings, two brothers, were born in 2016, eight years after she was. Then, in 2020, Joelle’s father, Roman, announced that his wife, Galina, was expecting twins for the second time.
Anoa’i also became the big sister of another set of twins in May 2020, though Reigns has yet to reveal their genders. Becker’s husband, Roman Reigns, has stated that he would “love to” have more children and that he hopes to retire and spend most of his time at home with his wife and children.
When Joelle was the only child of Roman Reigns and Galina Becker, the former expressed hope for more children in the future. He expressed his feelings in an interview with Renee Young on Unfiltered.
“I’d love to, yeah.” “Babies are blessings,” my mother once said.
said the 6-foot-3-inch-tall wrestler. He also stated at the time that after retiring from wrestling, he wanted to devote his entire life to being a father.
Roman Reigns has a tattoo of Joelle Anoa’i.
Among his numerous tattoos, Reigns’ ink stains on his wrists include a small turtle tattoo that the ex-defensive tackle has hidden among his other art. The tattoo, like much of his work, has a deep meaning.
According to Reigns, the turtle mark represents his relationship with his daughter. In an interview, the wrestler from Florida explained the significance of the turtle, saying,
“This tattoo was done by my daughter, Joelle.” It describes my daughter, who is present with me but should not be known. “I got this tattoo done on my wrist so that everyone can see it.”
In Samoan culture, the turtle represents family, wellness, longevity, and peace. In an interview, Reigns stated that he likes the tattoo on the inside because “not everyone gets to see that.”
Dwayne ‘The Rock Johnson, another member of the Anoa’i family and ex-WWE superstar, has similar tribal tattoos on his upper body. Johnson’s tattoo, like Reigns’, includes his family; on Rock’s chest is o you to’a/ua (his wife, Dany) and his o you affine (his daughter, Simone Alexandra).
When Reigns Attempted to Embarrass His Daughter, Joelle Anoa’i
Roman Reigns once made certain that his daughter was in the holiday spirit. In an episode of The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon in November 20121, the Pensacola native shared a rare glimpse into his life as a father.
Reigns joked with Fallon about embarrassing his then-13-year-old daughter, Joelle when dropping her off at school. When asked about the incident, Roman stated,
“She’s almost 14, and she’s a handful right now.” She was telling me that right now, the whole Christmas music before Thanksgiving is a big deal, and they’re trying to cancel the whole thing with Mariah Carey, which is just crazy to me.”
Reigns then explained how he embarrassed his eldest by playing ‘All I Want for Christmas Is You’re right before dropping Joelle off at school.
The former CFL player admitted that it made her daughter cringe, especially since five of her friends were present at the time.
Just when Joelle thought she was safe, Reigns said his daughter “closes the door as fast as she can” until she realized “she has a project in the backseat” and her father turned up the music again.
Joelle Appeared In A Commercial Video With Her Father; Is She An Actress?
Joelle is not an actress, but she has appeared in an advertisement with her father. Reigns and his wife’s first daughter, Joelle Anoa’i, appeared in a public service announcement with her father in 2014.
This was part of a series of commercials featuring fathers and their children, with the message, “Take time to be a dad today.” The advertisements were sponsored by the Department of Health and Human Services, as well as Titus O’Neil, who appeared in one of their videos.
Reigns host a tea party with his daughter, Joelle, in the commercial. Later, the WWE aired some behind-the-scenes footage on their YouTube channel, in which Joelle’s father discusses the importance of being a father.
The father of five says in the video,
“As a man, being a successful father is everything to me. If you’re having a bad day as an individual, clear your schedule and spend time with your daughter. That’s the kind of stuff that helps and balances me out. I’m good to go if I just hear her little voice.”
Rowena Patrick, vice president of the Advertising Council, reveals Joelle Anoa’i was “very serious about her tea party” in the behind-the-scenes video. Patrick remembered Joelle despising sweet and iced tea when they asked if she wanted them.
Galina Becker, Joelle’s Mother, and Her Relationship With Roman Reigns
Galina Becker and Roman Reigns, Joelle’s parents, met at the Georgia Institute of Technology. Her mother was a track and field athlete at the time, and her father was a football player.
They got engaged in February 2012 but didn’t announce it until early 2014.
They married in December 2014 on a private island in the Bahamas called Castaway, with the wedding song A Whole New World from the 1992 animated film Aladdin. Galina Becker, Joelle Anoa’i’s mother, is a former collegiate athlete who was her team’s Most Valuable Performer in her freshman, sophomore, and junior seasons.
She competed in the long jump, triple jump, and hurdles competitions. Joelle’s mother, a Florida native, won several regional titles in the long jump and triple jump.
Becker still holds the Central Coast Section triple jump record with a leap of 40’5. She also won regional titles during her sophomore and junior years at the university. During her college career, the mother of Reigns’ children ran the 60m hurdles in a season-best time of 9.48 seconds.
Galina also competed in 100m dashes; during the 2005-2006 season, she ran 14.92 in the 100-meter high hurdles at the Georgia Tech Invitational. Galina, Joelle’s mother, had a keen interest in volleyball and was a good volleyball player in addition to track and field running.
Joelle Anoa’i Appeared in WWE’s Storyline for a Short Time
Joelle was briefly featured in one of WWE’s short arcs in 2015 when Bray Wyatt used photos of her in his promo while feuding with Roman Reigns.
Bray, the Wyatt family’s leader, held up a photo of Reigns with his daughter, Joelle, on the June 15th, 2015 episode of Monday Night Raw, which aired a few days before Father’s Day. Wyatt also sang “I’m a Little Teapot” in response to Reigns’ fatherhood PSA.
In response, Reigns stated that he was not pleased with the WWE writer involving his daughter in a feud. Joelle’s father stated on Sam Roberts’ Wrestling Podcast that Wyatt showing a picture of his daughter was difficult.
Reigns, on the other hand, added that he wasn’t thrilled with it because there was a reason why they did it the way they did. He went on to say that he was okay with Wyatt using the photo because it was just a picture of a television commercial.
The ex-Shield member implied that if Wyatt had held up a private photo of him and his daughter at home, he might have felt differently. Despite this, the WWE later dropped the idea of Wyatt threatening Roman’s daughter.
Other Information
Joelle’s ancestors are Samoan, English, Italian/Sicilian (via her father), and Afro-American (from her mother).
