Accomplishments

“Growth doesn’t happen when we are comfortable and sure about everything.

Being ‘practical’ when you know you should give it a shot is translated in simple terms as being a coward. You’ll never know the story behind ‘what if I had…’ until you jump.”

Training

Back Exercise

Each back workout that Aaron does begins with a few warm-up sets, which helps him prevent injuries.

Aaron Shumake uses seated cable rows as one of his “go-to” back workouts. Aaron watches his technique and is careful, not to swing too much when performing this exercise.

He claims that the front of the movement when he rolls his shoulders forward to achieve maximum contraction is the most important element of the workout.

Aaron uses the same techniques he used to work his upper back (trapezius) to work his lower back (latissimus dorsi).

To stretch the muscle at the beginning of the exercise, he always makes sure to hold the position for a split second or two before pulling the weights back.

How are calves raised?

Aaron Shumake claims that adding too much weight is the most common error people make when working their calves.

He claims that while muscle contraction and activation will result in significant muscle growth, the weight itself won’t. Because of this, he exhorts people to reduce their weight and concentrate instead on their time under tension and proper form.

When Aaron trains his calves, he constantly does workouts in supersets and aims for more repetitions. He favors the seated calf raise, donkey calf raises, and calf press on the leg press machine as calf exercises.

“A visionary does not look to his left or to his right for the answers. His vision of the future is self-created through the belief in his dreams.”

Nutrition

Aaron Shumake always opts for the “lean bulk” approach when he wants to bulk up. With this kind of diet, he can simultaneously build muscle and maintain a low body fat percentage during the entire year.

Aaron must naturally follow this type of diet, which limits his access to bad foods by requiring him to eat balanced, healthful meals the majority of the time.

Aaron claims he nevertheless prefers this way of life. He believes that the advantages of maintaining a year-round ripped physique outweigh the disadvantages of restricting his diet.
