Biography

Getting Motivated

Around the age of 5, Cedric first noticed bodybuilders while watching TV at home. As a result, Cedric caught her attention right away.

She said, “I’d lie on the floor and watch the TV; I was particularly attracted to powerful physiques. I promised myself that I would always be muscular.

After seeing the Arnold Schwarzenegger-starring movie Conan the Barbarian, Cedric was even more motivated. “Arnold was my first bodybuilding inspiration, and I wanted to look like Conan,” Cedric remarked.

Cedric’s body changed as the years passed. He started doing push-ups and sit-ups and ingesting all the bodybuilding knowledge he could get his hands on.

The young Cedric was given a bodybuilders magazine by his neighbor, a would-be powerlifter, to explore workout regimens and learn more about the bodybuilding lifestyle.

During this time, Cedric also began to sketch the people he saw in these magazines in the hopes of one day looking just like them.

One day, Cedric remarked, “instead of studying their physical characteristics and sketching characters, I genuinely started to read what was inside.” At this time, he started to deepen his grasp of how to build a physique like that.

Weightlifting For The First Time

Cedric McMillanCedric’s mother purchased him a set of weights when he was 13 years old. Cedric’s physique began to grow at its fastest rate since he first became interested in “muscular” at this time. However, Cedric would find it difficult to use the weights.

Cedric’s mother had bought him a new set of weights, but she would not let him put them together by himself. While Cedric had a plan, she worried that he would damage himself.

After his mother left for work, Cedric would remove the weights from under his bed and use the barbell and dumbbells to work out “in secret.”

He would meticulously reposition the weights beneath the bed each day just before his mother got home.

Eventually, Cedric’s mother allowed him to build the weights with the help of his mother’s boyfriend.

With his assistance, Cedric assembled the weights and started to lift the “iron” with the only purpose of taking pleasure in the workout and gaining muscle.

Anxious About Team Sports

Due to his frequent workouts, Cedric developed an athletic physique throughout his youth, but he opted not to participate in team sports that were played for competition.

I was always the independent type of guy, he added. Cedric’s absence from team sports was caused by more than just his “lone-man” approach to problem-solving.

In team sports, Cedric was continually worried about making mistakes because he thought he would “mess up.” Cedric was ultimately made a solitary athlete from the start because of this.

The US Arm And Graduating

Cedric decided to enlist in the US Army Reserves after getting his college degree and expanding his knowledge of weight training in the process. He continued to train there for the military.

Cedric remembered packing on another ten pounds of lean muscle mass during his first few months in the military to his previously skinny and petite frame.

Making Progress In Bodybuilding

Later, Cedric left his home with the family and relocated to Columbia, South Carolina. Cedric went into the nearby nutrition shop to get a tub of protein powder. He first met Mark Neil there when he was still an amateur bodybuilder.

Cedric regarded Mark as the “largest” man he had ever seen. Naturally, Cedric desired to appear the same. How can I get shoulders like yours? he enquired to Mark.

Cedric received dietary and exercise recommendations from Mark. “Eat more” was Mark’s key piece of advice.

Every day, Cedric would stop by the supplement store to consult Mark on the best pills, workouts, and ways to gain muscle.

Cedric claimed that he occasionally “annoyed” Mark with his inquiries about bodybuilding. However, Cedric was curious and eager to learn everything he could from his new hero.

After following Mark’s recommendations for a month, particularly his major piece of advice to “eat more,” Cedric gained an additional 30 pounds in just 4 weeks.

Participating In Bodybuilding Contests

Cedric’s body was adjusting to a new eating regimen when he gained weight “rapidly.” Cedric continued by saying that he did not provide his body with enough calories for growth during his early years of weightlifting at home.

With Mark’s encouragement and this new routine for eating, Cedric began to finally experience the outcomes he had long desired.

After witnessing Cedric’s physical development over a month of training, Mark. Cedric leaped at the chance when Mark mentioned that he might participate in a bodybuilding competition that was only four weeks away.

Cedric concluded his mini bulk at 225 pounds after four more weeks of dieting and exercising under Mark’s guidance. He started out weighing 195 lbs.

Cedric then went on to diet for four weeks to down to 205 pounds in preparation for the concert. This demonstrated to Cedric and his peers that he possessed all the necessary skills to win the bodybuilding championship.

Taking First Place In A Competition

Cedric claimed there wasn’t much competition that day at the show. He competed in the heavyweight division against just one other person, who was substantially smaller in stature.

Naturally, Cedric took home first place in his very first competition, solidifying his love for bodybuilding at the time.

Resuming Tour

After some time, Cedric was eventually called back to work, and in 2003–2004, his unit was deployed to Iraq. Cedric was stationed “in the middle of nowhere” in Iraq, far from any gym where he could keep up his physique.

Even though Cedric didn’t have access to a gym, he was fortunate to be able to collect extra wood and machine components from damaged cars.

Cedric constructed a completely functional gym on base in the middle of the desert by using every resource at his disposal.

Homecoming From Iraq

Cedric McMillan started preparing for his upcoming tournament as soon as he got home from Iraq. Cedric participated in a neighborhood open class show that year. Cedric won his weight class, but he lost the overall championship.

He continued to work on getting bigger to compete in the 2007 South Carolina State Show. He succeeded in doing so, growing to a final weight of 232 lbs.

Cedric’s constancy had paid off after the effort and commitment he put into training before the contest. On that day, he won both the Super Heavyweight Class and the Overall Title.

Receiving His Pro Card

Due to his tremendous size and muscular definition, Cedric participated once again in 2008 and won the Super Heavyweight and Overalls. He was 242 lbs heavier this time.

Following that contest, Cedric began to get ready for the Nationals. To “raise” his weight class for the 2009 Florida State Nationals competition.

He turned professional during this competition, earning his Professional Bodybuilding Card and winning first place.

Influences And Idols

In his early days of competition, Cedric cited Mark Neil as one of his key idols and influences. Cedric was brought to his feet by Mark, who also provided priceless guidance on diet, exercise, and professionalism.

Cedric McMillan  remembers seeming ‘excited’ after winning his first bodybuilding competition. Mark was the one who urged everyone to “stay modest, regardless of the result.”

Cedric never forgot this counsel, which helped shape him into the devout and modest player he is today.

In addition to Mark, Arnold Schwarzenegger has served as a source of motivation for Cedric; after witnessing Arnold’s massive physique on the big screen, Cedric decided to “pick up” the weights.
