Dr Mark Hyman, British physician and author shared tips on how to stay young and live longer. He posted a video on his TikTok account for his followers. And on it, he discussed the foods that can keep one evergreen.

Dr Mark Hyman is a longevity doctor and has penned the book: Young Forever: The Secrets to Living Your Longest, Healthiest Life. Recently, he uploaded a video on his TikTok account for his innumerable fans and followers. In this video, he shared details of those foods that can help people looking young and give them a long and healthy life.
Mark emphasized on five types of foods that one should incorporate in the daily diet to have a youthful look and longer life. These foods are:
Cruciferous vegetables
Cruciferous vegetables include broccoli, cabbage, kale and brussels sprouts. These are rich in antioxidants, minerals and vitamins. They also have dietary fiber and can reduce inflammation and make gut stronger and bowels regular. Mark said:
“These things are medicine.”
The longevity doctor advises people to consume at least a cup or two of these vegetables daily.
Extra virgin olive oil
This oil is derived from olives and contains a lot of monounsaturated fatty acids. The extra virgin olive oil is the best compared to other virgin oils that are filtered and refined. The industrial processing of the latter two oils reduces their benefits and increases health risks. About the extra virgin olive oil, Mark said:
‘It has been shown to contain all sorts of anti-inflammatory compounds’,
He went on to add:
“You need to make sure you get lots of good fats and olive oil is a great way to do it.”
“It should be your staple fat.”
Nuts
Nuts contain healthy fats and omega 3 fatty acids. These fat types are good for cardiovascular health and protect the heart. They reduce bad cholesterol of blood while increase the good cholesterol in the body. The health benefits of nuts are innumerable. Dr. Mark noted:
“Nuts are so important.”
“They’ve been show to extend life, to cause reduction in diabetes, to increase health span, lifespan.”
Further, he praised:
“They’re full of minerals, fat, protein, fibre. They’re one of nature’s super foods.”
Berries
Berries are tiny fruits but they are full of antioxidants such as anthocyanins, flavonoids etc. They reduce body inflammation, improve gut health, lower blood cholesterol, reduce blood sugar spikes, and protect the heart. They also lessen the chances of dementia that occurs with age and which has no cure at the moment. Dr. Mark states:
“Berries are a great source of antioxidants.”
Green tea
In the drinks category, Dr. Mark is a fan of green tea. He suggests to consume this tea daily. Explaining its health benefits, Dr. Mark says:
“It contains all of these phytochemicals [and] catechins, which have been shown to activate longevity switches and pathways in our body that keep us young [and] keep us healthy.”

It helps keep body weight within the normal limits. Ikaria in Greece is the blue zone region of the world. It has people that live the longest in the world. This is due to their healthy Mediterranean diet of whole grains, fatty fish, nuts, seeds, fruits, vegetables and olive oil. Dr. Mark revealed that people in Ikaria have wild sage tea.
