When they are on sale, I like to buy a shrimp ring for this recipe and chop the shrimp up when guests arrive.

It doesn’t take very long to cook the shrimp if you need to. Each shrimp will develop a bright pink color and curl up when they are finished cooking.

Even without thawing, you can cook shrimp right from the freezer! This is how to prepare frozen shrimp.

  1. Three quarts or so of water should come to a full boil.
  2. Add the entire frozen shrimp, including the peels.
  3. As the water starts to boil again, wait. It’ll take roughly four to five minutes.
  4. The shrimp should then be cooked for a further two to four minutes, depending on their size. Avoid overcooking! Peel after draining and allowing to cool.

Use thawed jumbo shrimp with the peel on to make the grilled shrimp salad. Grill on the cooler side of the grill for about 2 minutes per side after brushing with oil.

To prepare the shrimp for salad, let them cool, then skin and roughly chop them. Small shrimp can be left whole and sprinkled over chopped romaine or any other salad greens you have on hand to make a very straightforward shrimp with salad.

Making a Shrimp Salad

To prepare shrimp, cook the shrimp first and allow them cool enough to peel.

  • Eggs should be carefully diced, and shrimp should be roughly chopped into even parts.
  • Mix the shrimp, eggs, celery, green onion, and other ingredients in a mixing bowl.

All there is to it is that! For a great avocado shrimp salad, you can optionally add diced avocado.

This simple shrimp makes a fantastic low-carb/keto option when it’s served over a bed of lettuce. Add additional rotini pasta for a more substantial, hearty shrimp pasta salad to stretch this recipe for cold shrimp salad to feed a crowd!

Use croissants that have been horizontally cut for a delicious shrimp sandwich, or pile them high on handmade bread.
