For the ideal weeknight meal, serve Chicken Parm over spaghetti, egg noodles, or mashed potatoes.
Make-your-own Chicken Parmesan
Eggplant Parmesan, a classic Italian dish, is said to be the source of parmesan! A breaded chicken breast is fried and then topped with marinara sauce and melted cheese to make chicken parm.
The best thing is that it cooks in just 30 minutes, making it perfect for a hearty and tasty Sunday meal.
In contrast to the frequently deep-fried form of this meal, this version is breaded, pan-fried in a small amount of oil, and then topped with tomato sauce and cheese. In the oven, the chicken has finished baking.
Making Chicken Parmesan
For flavor and texture, parmesan starts with crispy breaded chicken.
- To achieve consistent cooking, pound the chicken with a rolling pin or meat mallet to a thickness of 1/2 inch.
- You can chop extra-large chicken breasts in half before breading them.
- Before dipping into the breading/parmesan mixture and then the beaten eggs, pat dry.
- To aid in its adhesion, press the breading onto the chicken.
The chicken breasts should just be lightly browned—the oven will finish baking them—for a few minutes on each side. Place in a casserole dish, then top with mozzarella, parmesan, and marinara sauce. Don’t scrimp on the cheese; the tastiest parmesan is made with oozy cheese.
To make it lighter
There are a few ways to make this baked parmesan recipe a little bit healthier.
You may use oven-baked chicken breasts instead of breaded chicken if you want to cut back on calories and carbs. If you’re following a low-carb diet, you can also use almond flour and parmesan cheese for the breading.
Instead of pasta, serve this dish with spaghetti squash or zucchini noodles to make it lighter.

Can you freeze chicken parmesan?
After being fully cooked, parmesan can indeed be frozen.
Remember that although the chicken won’t be quite as crispy after freezing, it’s still delectable!
Seal in quart-sized freezer bags or freezer-safe food storage containers. Don’t forget to label your food with the contents, the date, and, if necessary, some basic warming directions! Quick entrée!
