KALE

For this dish, choose kale that is crisp, juicy, and unwilted. Any kind will be suitable!

OIL Olive oil was used in this dish, but a variety of oils would taste fantastic as well! To give these chips a great crunch, try using grapeseed oil, avocado oil, or coconut oil.

SEASONINGS

Before baking, the kale chips are sprinkled with salt, but feel free to season them anyway you like! Try parmesan cheese, taco seasoning, BBQ seasoning, powdered ranch dressing, garlic powder, or onion powder.

Making Kale Chips

This fast-acting snack is both healthy and delicious!

  1. Choose kale leaves that are fresh, vibrant, and devoid of dirt or debris. If you rinse the leaves, lightly wipe any dirt off of them and pat them dry with a paper towel (printable recipe below).
  2. Olive oil should be mixed with broken leaves before placing them on a baking sheet.
  3. As soon as the kale is dry, season them and bake them. Serve right away or allow them to cool.

Advice for the Ideal Crunch

  • They shrink. Kale leaves should be torn into pieces around the size of a palm. As they bake, they will get smaller.
  • Well, dry. Dry the kale thoroughly after washing it (I usually wash the day before if I remember). It won’t bake because of the water; it will steam.
  • Subtitled Season. The seasoning has less surface area as the kale chips get smaller. One of the few occasions where you should season a little less than you might anticipate.
  • Light on the oil. Just enough oil to coat them should be added; too much oil would make them soggy. You might use cooking spray for oil.

Although they can keep for up to 7 days, kale chips start to lose their crispness before that. Re-crisp them in the oven for a few minutes!
