Potatoes baked in the oven

Roasted potatoes are a simple side dish that fits with anything and has a foolproof recipe! From a delicious steak to roasted chicken! Use your imagination when using the herbs and spices you have on hand.

  • You can adjust the amount of garlic in this recipe to suit your tastes. Use more or less!
  • I season these with sea salt. There is something I adore about granular salt on potatoes. If you can, try to avoid using table salt. Also good is kosher salt.
  • You can substitute fresh chopped rosemary, thyme, or even basil if you don’t like parsley. Herbs that have been dried would also work, but use caution. Normally, I use two teaspoons.

Everyone will adore these potatoes because they have few ingredients and lots of flavors.

What variety of potatoes works best for Roasting?

Any variety of potatoes can be roasted! White, red, baby, russet, Yukon gold, brushed, or even roasted sweet potatoes can all be used, and they’re all excellent!

I’ll leave it entirely up to you as to whether you peel potatoes before roasting or prefer them with the skin on.

I personally prefer peeled potatoes when roasting plain white potatoes, but I adore the look, flavor, and texture of roasted red and Yukon gold potatoes with skin on.

To ensure a uniform seasoning coating when using baby potatoes, simply cut them in half.

Duration of Roasting Potatoes

For the best, golden results, I prefer to roast potatoes at a higher temperature for 45–55 minutes at 400°F (200°C), turning them a couple of times to ensure even crisping.

Alternately, use the following example as a reference for your own preferences:

  • 350°F (175°C): 65-75 minutes.
  • 375°F (190°C): 55-65 minutes.
  • 400°F (200°C): 45-55 minutes.
  • 450°F (230°C): 35-45 minutes.
