But Garret Fisher’s newfound love of CrossFit quickly ingrained itself in him. Garret gave up baseball at the age of 15 as a result, choosing to focus his time on training to become a CrossFit competitor.

But Garret’s path to success was anything but simple. He experienced many setbacks, including potentially fatal injuries that kept him from competing in CrossFit for two years.

Soccer & CrossFit

CrossFit wasn’t always Garret Fisher’s thing. As luck would have it, he was exposed to the sport to increase his baseball conditioning.

When he was 15 years old, young Garret desired to develop his physical skills, such as strength, endurance, and conditioning. And CrossFit appeared to be the ideal solution.

Garret had no idea that CrossFit would quickly replace baseball as his favorite sport.

Garret became “hooked” to CrossFit because of its community, rivalry, and sense of brotherhood.

Garret began CF training in 2007 and continued for the following several years, changing his physique. However, he was still undecided about competing at this time.

“Overnight” Achievement

Garret, at 22 years old, didn’t become eligible for his first-ever CrossFit Games competition until 2013. He had seven years of experience and believed he could advance quickly. So he did.

Garret shot to fame after placing fifth in his performance during the Games. Fans from all over the world flooded his social media platforms.

Garret quickly rose to prominence in the fitness world. He became a personal trainer for well-known hip-hop musicians and other celebrities as a result of how much he improved.

The Hardest Task Yet

Garret reached the pinnacle of his abilities in 2014. “I felt I was invincible,” he claims. But regrettably, this was where he had his greatest difficulty to date.

Two significant injuries he sustained in one month seriously threatened his CrossFit career. Garret stated, “To say life slammed me hard is an understatement.

Even worse, during this extremely trying period, many of Garret’s sponsors dropped him, his medical bills skyrocketed, and even some of his closest friends turned on him.

But what hurt him the most was seeing the persona he had developed as a professional athlete dissolve.

The Return

Even though Garret’s wounds were painful, he knew he couldn’t give up. He perceived this as a physical and mental challenge. Garret developed into a stronger and more self-assured person by overcoming this difficulty in his life.

He returned to compete at the 2016 CF Games and finished in 20th position after a two-year-long, hard recovery. From that point on, Garrett only got better, and his career is now back in full swing.

Garret continues to motivate others all across the world with his truly astounding tale, proud of his hard-earned accomplishment.

“You’ll sometimes see people jumping out into their squatting stance in order to catch the dumbbells in the front rack position.

Despite nothing being wrong with this, my personal favorite and the way I find to be more effective is the good old sidestep action…faster, less taxing, and feels more fluid to me!”

Training

Garret knows exactly what it takes to exercise hard because he averages two to three workouts every day. But for him, it’s not just about doing big, difficult lifts.

He and other CrossFit competitors emphasize activities like jogging, burpees, sledgehammer slams, and rope climbing that are more utilitarian. He stays quick, nimble, and in peak physical condition thanks to these drills.

Garret also incorporates mobility exercises like yoga. As a result, the physique develops into one that is functional as well as for display.

The Training’s Team Spirit

Training alone is far more difficult for Garret. Being surrounded by friends and individuals who share his interests motivates Garret to work harder and go beyond his boundaries.

“Training by myself is really hard. I need to learn how to push myself and improve my mental confidence.”

Garret has previously trained with other well-known CrossFit competitors. These people are Jason Khalipa, Neal Maddox, and Miranda Oldroyd.

His sister Lauren is a well-known CrossFit competitor as well, and the two occasionally work out together.

“I enjoy incorporating traditional bodybuilding exercises into my workouts. They significantly contribute to strength and muscle mass increase in addition to aiding in maintaining good health.

Nutrition

Garret’s rigorous training gives him more dietary freedom. He can consume almost any food because he works out three times per day.

However, this does not imply that Garret always consumes processed carbs and fast food. He tends to stick to foods that are good for growing muscle, such as complex carbohydrates, chicken, eggs, and healthy fats like olive oil and almond butter. with the occasional less nutritious, more delectable meal to satisfy his palate.

“My goal is to consume entire foods. I’m far from being paleo. Every week, I eat pizza and ice cream. I feel refreshed after doing it.

Garret also consumes a lot of fruits and vegetables in his diet. This gives him the fiber and minerals he needs for optimum digestion.

Influences and Idols

CrossFit was made known to Garret by his friend Vince Carter. One day, Vince approached Garret and asked if he wanted to attempt this new exercise program. Garret claims, “Went there the next day and never looked back.”
