One of my favorite summertime foods is creamy apple slaw. Every time, the delicate aromas and reviving tanginess of apple slaw transport me back to my younger years.

The combination of tangy apples and crunchy cabbage creates a nicely balanced side dish that goes well with a wide variety of entrees.

Celery seed and grainy mustard, in my opinion, significantly enhance the flavor of this apple slaw dish without being overbearing.

You can make the cabbage and apple slaw in advance and just bring it out when it’s time to eat because it’s quite simple to make and stays well in the refrigerator.

I like to buy the carrots pre-shredded so I don’t have to bother about doing it myself with this recipe to save even more time!

This dish is also quite adaptable. A variety of ingredients can be used, including red cabbage, dried cranberries, and pumpkin seeds.

This is one of my favorite summer recipes since it is very cooling. It’s ideal for potlucks or even as a side dish for barbecues!

The ideal slaw to serve with pulled pork dishes, including these pulled pork sandwiches, is creamy apple slaw.

What is served alongside cole slaw?

Coleslaw works incredibly well with anything sour or meaty since it is so creamy, such as foods with barbecue sauce.

Coleslaw goes great with foods like pulled pork, beans, grilled meats, steak, corn, and potatoes.

Additionally, cole slaw tastes great on its own. Because it tastes so tangy and cool when served cold as a side dish, cole slaw is renowned as a summertime snack.

Can cole slaw be frozen?

Use caution if you plan to freeze your apple slaw! Mayo-based dressings can separate, in my experience. The dish’s overall flavor may be impacted by the watery and gritty texture this causes.

You might have better success freezing cole slaw if you use a cream-based dressing.

Making spring rolls with your leftover coleslaw is a fantastic way to use it up without freezing it! You’re ready to go if you add some meat or beans!

Make sure to consume your coleslaw within three months if you freeze
