Crispy on the outside and creamy on the interior, these avocado fries are SO fun and delicious! Eat them hot with a nice dipping sauce.

These are something I started making last spring. However, I didn’t consider them to be fried at the time. I like to use them as a taco filler instead.

It seems like a good concept, doesn’t it? Avocado slices that are both crispy and creamy, seasoned with cumin and coriander, and stuffed inside tortillas with all the fixings…

Actually, these are too wonderful to bury in a taco, as it turns out. The ideal way to eat them is on their own, preferably just off the sheet pan, and preferably with a good sauce (or two!) for dipping.

You may then really appreciate the contrast between the buttery-smooth avocado within and the crispy panko exterior. Does anyone else feel peckish?

To prepare these avocado fries, you will need the following ingredients:

  • Of course, avocados! Find two large, ripe avocados that are still firm. When they are cut into slices and breaded, you want them to maintain their shape.
  • They hold the panko coating to the avocado slices: flour and eggs.
  • These three ingredients—cumin, coriander, and salt—give the fries a deliciously flavorful, earthy flavor. If you’re feeling inventive, you could experiment with the spices in this dish. These avocado fries would be delicious with both garlic powder and chili powder.
  • To add crunch, use panko breadcrumbs!
  • Additionally, extra virgin olive oil aids in the crisping and frying of the panko in the oven.

Making Avocado Fries

Although making these avocado fries isn’t difficult, be aware that it might be a messy procedure. This is how it works:

Make the panko coating first. Mix the panko, coriander, cumin, and salt in a small bowl. Put the flour in a separate basin and whisk the eggs in the smaller bowl.

Bread the avocado after that. the unclean portion! Remove the avocados’ skins after cutting them lengthwise into 8 pieces. To coat each slice evenly, dip it into the flour. Before immersing it in the egg and panko, shake off any extra flour.

Lastly, bake. Place the breaded avocado slices on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper once you have breaded all of them.

The avocado fries should be baked for 12 to 14 minutes at 425°F, or until crisp and golden brown. Generously drizzle with olive oil. This dish can also be prepared using an air fryer. Below are all of the directions!

Ideas for Serving Avocado Fries

I advise making a dipping sauce to go with the avocado fries while they bake. There are a ton of sauces that would be delicious here, but these five are my favorites:

  • Mexican sauce
  • Vegetarian Ranch Dressing
  • Ranch dressing from Chipotle
  • Sauce tartare
  • Dressing in Creamy Cilantro and Lime

Enjoy the avocado fries right out of the oven with a little more salt and your preferred dipping sauce. I typically prepare these as a tasty appetizer or snack, but they also go well with vegetarian burgers, black bean burgers, and sandwiches made with barbecued jackfruit. Hope you feel the same way about them as we do!
