- 1 onion finely chopped
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 4 cups water
- 1 ½ pounds lean ground beef
- 15 ounces tomato sauce
- 1 ½ tablespoon cider vinegar
- 4 cloves garlic minced
- 2 teaspoons unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 tablespoon tomato paste
- 3 tablespoons chili powder
- 1 teaspoon oregano
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- ¼ teaspoon ground allspice
- ½ teaspoon salt
- 1 bay leaf

Instructions
- To a saucepan, add onion and olive oil. The onion should be cooked till soft over medium heat.
- Include the remaining ingredients, including the beef that has not been cooked.
- Skim any fat off the surface and bring it to a boil. Turn down the heat, cover, and simmer for two hours or until thick.
- Remove and discard the bay leaf. Serve heated spaghetti over it.
