My very favorite pasta salad of all time is dill pickle! Dill pickles take center stage in this creamy pasta salad recipe, where they contribute a ton of flavor and crunch.
This recipe is ideal for potlucks since it tastes much better when prepared in advance.
Dill Pickle Pasta Salad is one of my favorites. I have always. Since nearly 20 years ago, my sister and I have traded gifts that are centered around pickles.
I’ve given her anything from a yodeling pickle to pickle soap and jewelry, and I’ve gotten everything from pickle erasers to a case of pickle pops (like freezies, but pickle juice).
I have to dedicate this amazing pasta salad dish to my sister Candace because there is one thing we haven’t yet traded: a dill pickle recipe.
I frequently prepare pasta salads because I enjoy them. They are simple to create and, in most cases, taste better when prepared beforehand.
They are the star of any potluck supper and are ideal to carry for lunch the following day. Even though I enjoy pasta salads, this Dill Pickle Pasta Salad is up there with my very favorites.
Pickles (or even dill pickle relish) frequently serve as a supplemental ingredient in dishes like pasta salads and potato salads.
However, not this time. No, the prized Dill Pickle Pasta Salad pickle takes the lead, front and center, this time.
This dish contains pickle flavor in three distinct locations, yet there is only the appropriate amount of pickle flavor—if pickle is even a word!? Yes, it’s time to start pickling individuals (in the dill pickle sense of course).
If you can locate them, I recommend buying baby dill pickles for this recipe because I adore the crunch they provide and the way they appear in little rounds.
I pick up all the pickle jars in the store and attempt to select the one with the smallest pickles because I’m a little pickle fanatic. I appear to be selecting the ideal product, yet I’m in the pickle aisle.
If you only have larger dill pickles (or handmade pickles), they will still work well in this recipe; just be sure to slice them finely enough to preserve their crunch.
You can also add some sweet pickles if you have them (or just like them). I’m talking about creamy, crunchy, and sweet. Ah, perfection!
Oh, and try to collect all of the delicious small garlicky bits floating around and add them to the dressing as well while you’re scooping out the pickle juice to add to the dressing in this recipe; they provide extra flavor.
The white papery-skinned onions are the best to use; those with yellow skin are considerably stronger and would be a little bit too dominating in this recipe.
The nicest part about this dill pickle pasta salad is that it is fantastic made the day before and will almost certainly be the hit of your next potluck! If by chance you have any leftovers (which I doubt), they’ll keep for a few days in the fridge and make the ideal lunch.
