Why Is Mojito Pitcher So Delicious?

  • Mojitos are the ideal summer cocktail! Crisp, refreshing, and unbelievably light. Club soda adds a little fizz and helps to decrease the alcohol content.
  • You may save the trouble of making one drink at a time with this batch recipe. You can make 4-6 mojitos at a time, depending on the size of your pitcher and the amount of ice and club soda you use.
  • This non-alcoholic mojito pitcher recipe is simple to create! Simply leave out the rum and replace it with extra club soda (or ginger ale, or sparkling water).
  • This mojito pitcher recipe can be made up to three days ahead of time. Follow the recipe as written, but hold off on adding the ice and club soda until you’re ready to serve. In the meantime, place the pitcher in the refrigerator.

Important Ingredients

Rum – Mojitos are best made using white or silver rum. They’ll retain the drink’s trademark clarity and won’t dominate the mint and lime juice flavors.

If you want to add a little fruitiness, use flavored rum, or if vodka or gin are more your styles, use those instead.

Mint Leaves — If you don’t have or can’t obtain fresh mint leaves, try mint extract, fresh basil, rosemary, or cilantro instead. The varied herbs will give you a different flavor overall.

If using mint essence, start with 1/4 to 1/2 teaspoon, taste, and adjust as required. Mint extract has a stronger flavor than mixed mint leaves, and too much of it will ruin your pitcher.

Lime Juice – Fresh lime juice is best, plus you’ll have limes on hand to garnish! Because most limes have about 2 tablespoons of juice, this mojito pitcher recipe will require at least 6 fresh limes.

Chef’s Advice

  • Freeze lime wedges ahead of time, then use them to replace part of the ice cubes in the pitcher. As they melt, they’ll keep your concoction cool without diluting it! Frozen strawberries, blueberries, or blackberries might also be used.
  • Take care not to mix the mint too much. You’ll wind up with bitter mojitos if you do this. Break up the mint leaves with light pressure and fast press-and-twist motions to extract some of the oils.
  • Instead of muddling the mint leaves, you can run them through a food processor or cut them coarsely with a sharp knife. Always remember not to overdo it. You want them to be just slightly chopped to avoid a bitter flavor.
  • Make a frozen mojito from your on-the-rocks mojito. You absolutely can! In a blender, combine all of the ingredients (except the ice) for this mojito pitcher recipe and blend until smooth. Once it’s smooth, add ice and combine until you have the slushy consistency you want.
