Salmon croquettes may sound elegant, but they are actually very simple to make.

Fresh salmon is cut up into large pieces and mixed with breadcrumbs, spices, and seasonings before being made into patties. They may be baked or cooked in a pan.

Serve as an appetizer or a light meal with a salad for something that is mouthwateringly crispy on the exterior and tasty on the inside.

Salmon Croquette Definition

Croquettes are breaded and meat- or fish-filled fried patties (or rolls). They make excellent appetizers or a light meal when served with a lemon-tossed salad and are typically fried until the outside is crisp (although I also give baked instructions).

Even if I prefer the simpler salmon patties, there isn’t much of a difference between them and croquettes.

Ingredients/Variations

SALMON: Use freshly flaked salmon meat for the best results. In a pinch, salmon in a can will do. When cooking salmon, make a little extra since you can utilize the leftovers from last night’s grilled salmon in this dish!

EGGS/BREADCRUMBS: These ingredients work together to hold the croquettes together so they don’t crumble. The patties will still require gentle pressing when you are shaping them.

In this recipe, I use panko bread crumbs, but if you just have standard bread crumbs on hand, you may substitute those. Since ordinary bread crumbs have a finer texture, start with a few tablespoons less. More can be added as necessary.

Flavors are added to the majority of the remaining ingredients. You can use your preferred flavors or anything you happen to have on hand. In this recipe, fresh herbs work really well.

according to the recipe below, bake or fry!

The best accompaniment to salmon croquettes is a dill pickle tartar sauce. Alternately, use this simple dip set-up.

To Fry: Fry each croquette for about 5 minutes on each side, or until golden and crispy. Serve after draining on paper towels.

Croquettes should be spread out evenly on the baking sheet before being baked.

  2. Salmon croquettes should be baked for 13 to 15 minutes, or until golden.

Notes

Be cautious while placing the patties into the oil because they won’t stick together as tightly as a hamburger.
For up to three days, store leftovers in the refrigerator in an airtight container. Reheat in a skillet until thoroughly warmed.
