Who is Kevin Jordan?

American bodybuilder Kevin Jordan was born and reared in East St. Louis, Missouri.

American football was Kevin’s sport of choice when he was younger, and as a result, he received more than 20 scholarship offers to play for a Division I football team.

Kevin had a bright future in the sport in front of him by the time he was a senior in high school. Nothing could go wrong, he thought.

Short Career of Kevin Jordan

Kevin’s life, however, took an unexpected turn one day. Kevin Jordan got caught being intoxicated at one of his school functions.

Kevin was consequently barred from participating in sports for a whole year. This meant that Kevin’s football career was now in jeopardy.

Kevin began playing for a football team in a lesser division when his suspension was lifted. But by this point, his enthusiasm for football had diminished. Kevin instead found a new love for bodybuilding.

Kevin found solace in the weight room, where he soon noticed a dramatic change in his body.

He left his football career in the past and continued to grow as a bodybuilder from that point on, eventually becoming a successful IFBB Pro Bodybuilder. Here is his account:

Biography

Modest Beginnings

The 29th day of June 1980 saw the birth of Kevin Jordan. His early years were spent in East St. Louis, Illinois, an area plagued by unemployment and violence.

Thankfully, Kevin moved to Bellville, a much more tranquil suburban location, following the fourth grade.

Kevin developed an interest in sports while he was a resident of Bellville.

He started participating in various school activities and declared, “I played team sports all year. Baseball, basketball, and football Kevin’s favorite sport was American football out of all the sports.

By his sophomore year of high school, Kevin had given up all hope of ever playing American football professionally. He was a tailback for the main high school football team at this point, and he was becoming better each season.

Broken Dreams

Kevin was regarded as one of the league’s top football players during his junior year of high school.

Because of his outstanding results, more than 20 1st Division institutions expressed interest in hiring him. Kevin’s career in American football appeared incredibly promising at this point.

But all of that changed one day. Kevin was prohibited from participating in any school sports during his senior year of high school after being found intoxicated during a school event.

As Kevin put it, “It was just getting busted for drinking at a school function. My plans and the future I had believed to be just around the corner were abruptly torn away from me.

Choosing Bodybuilding

Fortunately, Kevin was eventually given the chance to play for a football team in the third division. Kevin accepted the offer, but his enthusiasm for football had already started to wane. Instead, Kevin developed a passion for weightlifting.

Kevin began lifting weights when he was just 11 years old, but it wasn’t until he enrolled in college that his passion for the “iron” really took off.

Kevin spent all of his adolescence concentrating on his football career, only lifting weights to improve his performance in the sport.

But because of weightlifting, Kevin’s body had entirely changed by the time he finished high school. Kevin, who stands 5’10” and weighs 195 lbs, has undergone significant physical change as a result of weight training.

Kevin decided to start over in bodybuilding as a result of his change in the weight room and the end of his football career.

Taking Advice From A Roommate

Kevin shared a room with Nate Carden, who would soon become a friend and a bodybuilding enthusiast, during his first year in college.

Nate Carden, who is 6’4″ and weighs 275 pounds, assisted Kevin in learning more about nutrition and weightlifting. Nate was the first person to help me grasp that doing out with weights is only one half of the equation—you also need to eat, as Kevin put it.

Along with getting advice from Nate, Kevin Levrone, Flex Wheeler, Ronnie Coleman, and Shawn Ray are some of the greatest bodybuilders ever. After that, Kevin put on 30 pounds of muscle in his first year in college.

“We worked out in the football team’s gym, and the strength coach was generally annoyed with us because we remained past the allotted time for our workouts and performed additional exercises that were more suited to pure bodybuilding.

Making The Next Step In His Career

Kevin nearly started a career as a probation officer after graduating from college. But once more, his life was directed toward bodybuilding, and so he accepted a position at a nearby gym.

Kevin and Keith, the manager, became friends while they both worked at the gym. Keith turned out to be a bodybuilder who competed.

Kevin continued to acquire additional bodybuilding skills from Keith, such as what foods to eat and how to workout different body areas.

Kevin decided to pick Keith’s brain as much as he could as he was getting ready for his competition when he started getting ready for his next bodybuilding event. Kevin recognized he wanted to compete as well during this.

After doing an extensive investigation, Kevin discovered the competition he wanted to enter: the NPC Caveman Classic.

Kevin started his preparations at 240 pounds and by the time of the show had reduced his weight to 190 pounds. As a result, he was given a spot in both the open division and his weight group in this particular competition.

It was beyond hard for me to pose. I was so preoccupied with getting in shape that I never gave the presenting part any thought.

A New Target

Kevin eventually decided to transition from the NPC to the NANBF bodybuilding association. Later, he achieved two Overall bodybuilding titles, being eligible for WNBF Pro status.

But Kevin quickly understood that WNBF wasn’t the best “match” for him.

The pros in that other group, in his words, “seemed to me to be content to do it as a hobby, when I was already starting to think in terms of eventually having a career as a pro bodybuilder,” he said.

Kevin then decided to rejoin the NPC federation with the new ambition of turning pro in the IFBB.

Having A Legendary Coach As A Mentor

Kevin competed in the Muscle Mayhem Championships a few months later. Kevin won both his weight class and the title of overall champion after entering the ring in his best performance yet.

However, Kevin’s experience at the show didn’t revolve around this.

Kevin was introduced to Chad Nicholls, the competition’s organizer, after winning the competition.

In addition, Chad was a well-known personal trainer who helped competitors like Ronnie Coleman and Flex Wheeler win numerous bodybuilding championships.

After talking with Kevin for a while, Chad saw that he had a ton of promise as a bodybuilder. We clicked, and Chad was impressed by the potential he saw in me, in Kevin’s own words.

Soon after, Kevin started working out and following the famed coach’s nutrition plan.

Kevin Jordan Reborn

Kevin needed to alter his diet and training regimen to realize his full potential, even though Chad was aware of his potential from the start.

He boosted Kevin’s calorie intake much higher as his initial adjustment. As Kevin claimed, he believed he consumed a lot of food before meeting Chad. However, Chad’s new menu for Kevin included more food than he had ever consumed.

Chad also made significant changes to Kevin’s off-season diet. Kevin didn’t give the quality of his meals much thought before he met Chad since he thought it didn’t matter as much as the pre-contest diet.

Kevin knew his methods were flawed after he began collaborating with Chad.

Kevin echoed this sentiment when he remarked, “Chad made me understand that champions are formed in the off-season, and the meals you are consuming even six or eight months out from a contest have a major impact on the physique you ultimately display onstage.” Mr. Kevin Jordan

Additional Developments In The Bodybuilding Stage

Because of his new, better diet, Kevin’s body looked better than ever. Bigger, leaner, and more defined, he was.

Kevin decided to further develop his new physique in 2011. Later, he entered the Junior Nationals competition, weighing 225 pounds. Kevin impressively took first place in the heavyweight division and won the show that day.

Kevin believed he might look better as a Super-Heavyweight competitor even if he had won. Kevin had to gain an additional 10 pounds of pure muscle to participate in this division.

It didn’t take Kevin long to rise to the occasion once more, packing on 10 pounds of muscle in less than a year. He next competed in the 2012 Nationals as an outsider Super-Heavyweight participant, finishing in eighth place.

The IFBB Pro Kevin Jordan

After the 2012 Nationals competition, Kevin was adamant that he would earn his Pro Card the following year.

He concentrated only on his preparations over the ensuing months with the single objective of turning a pro bodybuilder as his main thought.

Working on his low-back and outer quads and perfecting his posing technique, Kevin became the 2013 Nationals Champion, taking first place and earning his long-awaited Pro Card.

From that point on, Kevin’s bodybuilding success became even further. In the years that followed, he filled his trophy case with a variety of honors. He is steadily but gradually making his way up the IFBB Pro circuit.

Kevin’s Journey Into Bodybuilding

Kevin expressed his excitement for the future while discussing his bodybuilding career, his past, and his future aspirations. When I was younger, playing football was both my sport and my dream, but it wasn’t meant to be.

I’ve learned that everything happens for a reason, and I believe that bodybuilding was what I intended to accomplish my entire life.

Training

High-volume exercise is the cornerstone of Kevin’s training regime. According to Kevin, “High loudness. I would be criticized for not working out very hard, yet I still lift a fair amount of weight.

Kevin never performs fewer than four sets of an exercise, to be more precise. His repetition range for a set is 8 to 12 repetitions. Here is how Kevin’s arm exercises seem;

“Every day is a struggle. Eat, rest, train, repeat, etc. There is always room for development, thus you can never be satisfied. Just keep in mind that someone else is working when you’re not.

Diet Plan For Kevin Jordan Off-Season

Kevin consumes seven meals a day, focusing on his protein consumption during his “mass-gaining” phase. His diet regimen;

  • 8:00 A.M. – 12 oz. steak, 1.5 cups oatmeal
  • 11:00 A.M. – 80 grams whey protein, 2 tbsp peanut butter
  • 4:30 P.M. –  50 grams whey isolate, 30 grams muscle-recovery supplement, 20 grams L-glutamine

Kevin was inspired by bodybuilders like Kevin Levrone, Flex Wheeler, Ronnie Coleman, Shawn Ray, Phil Heath, Jay Cutler, and Victor Martinez when he shared a room with his roommate Nate.

Kevin’s trainer Chad Nicholls had a significant impact as well. Chad helped Kevin reorganize his diet and training to earn his arduous IFBB Pro Card in 2013.

What could Kevin Jordan Teach Us?

Numerous lessons can be learned from Kevin Jordan’s tale. The fact that we should welcome circumstances that bring about change in our lives is maybe the most significant.

In Kevin’s case, his partying lifestyle and football career were incompatible. He was eventually suspended from football as a result, which forced him to reevaluate his entire future and career.

But it was because of this suspension from football that Kevin discovered a new passion for bodybuilding. What began as a straightforward method of exercise to build strength and size developed into a full-time profession.
