  • If you remember going to the mall as a kid, you’ll know precisely what I’m talking about when I say “Orange Julius.” Prepare to be whisked back to your childhood… minus the enormous hair, of course.
  • The tanginess of the orange juice, the creaminess of the milk, and the sweetness of the sugar and vanilla combine to create the most ideal creamsicle drink imaginable.
  • Blended ice creates a thick smoothie that stays cold for a long time. It’s the perfect summertime treat!
  • This Orange Julius recipe simply calls for six ingredients, two of which are water and ice. It’s also quite simple to prepare. Keep this one in mind for a fun family activity this summer when the kids are home!

Important Ingredients

Concentrate of Frozen Orange Juice – You should use frozen orange juice concentrate for the greatest orange flavor.

If you don’t have any frozen concentrate on hand, you can freeze fresh orange juice in ice cube trays.

The orange flavor won’t be as intense this way, but the texture will be identical.

Milk – Don’t miss the milk in this Orange Julius recipe since it gives it the characteristic smoothness. You can use any kind of non-dairy milk you like if regular milk isn’t your thing.

Both oat and almond milk would work well, while coconut milk would add a tropical note to the overall orange flavor.

Chef’s Advice

  • Although sugar is required in this Orange Julius recipe, the type you use is entirely up to you! Granulated sugar is simple to work with, but powdered sugar has a little smoother texture. Coconut sugar, Swerve Sweetener, or even maple syrup could be substituted for white sugar. This maple syrup recipe is one of our favorites!
  • Mix in a little heavy cream or even vanilla ice cream for an even creamier, milkshake-like drink. Would you like more orange flavor? Orange sherbet is a good choice. Don’t be scared to experiment with the recipe to get your ideal Orange Julius!
  • Add a little vanilla vodka or vanilla rum to your Orange Julius mixture for a more sophisticated version! Grand Marnier, a liqueur with an orange flavor, would also be excellent!
