This is my creamy meatball adaptation of the traditional Chicken Piccata. I love giving classic dishes new twists. Additionally, I believe that everything is superior in little form. Who doesn’t enjoy a tasty meatball recipe, after all?

I was absolutely uninspired one evening as I was staring at a packet of ground chicken when I had this thought.

Food bloggers “happen” to this on a regular basis. When it’s time for supper and you’ve been cooking all day at work, all of your creative energy has been sapped from you.

The only object of any interest in my pitifully sparse fruit dish was a lemon.

That’s all it took, really.

merely a lemon Additionally, some cream. 🙂 But this recipe was inspired by that one lemon alone!

Make Lemon Cream Sauce at Home

Kitchen essentials are used to make this recipe. The beauty of this recipe is that it’s still primarily prepared with milk, even though some people may not consider cream to be a pantry essential—as it is not for me.

Yes, you can make this without any cream and only use milk.:-) Although the sauce isn’t as heavy, it’s still quite yummy and healthier.

The basic recipe I’m presenting today uses cream, but I’ve included some advice for switching to milk in the notes.

Yes, this sauce is a little bit fatty. However, that lemon is everything—that crisp blast of lemon! You will be amazed by this sauce’s flavor. 🙂

Due to the presence of capers the evening I prepared it, I refer to these meatballs as Creamy Lemon Chicken Piccata Meatballs. I adore the additional bursts of freshness they give the sauce. But it’s not necessary, so you may definitely omit it.

This dish yields a generous amount of sauce, which is great for dipping pasta in. DELICIOUS!!!

This recipe calls for chicken meatballs, but turkey meatballs would also be delicious.

  1. Mix the ingredients for the meatballs in a bowl. Add a few more breadcrumbs or chill if it’s too wet to form balls.
  2. A heaping tablespoon should be scooped up and rolled into balls with somewhat wet palms.
  3. In a non-stick skillet, heat the oil over medium-high heat. Add half of the meatballs, browning all over but with uncooked interiors for 4 minutes. Repeat with the remaining meatballs after removing them from the dish.
  4. With a paper towel, clean the skillet. heat to a medium setting.
  5. Put flour in a skillet after melting the butter. Cream, chicken broth, and lemon juice are added after mixing and cooking for 1 minute.
  6. Initially boil before adding meatballs. 5 minutes of simmering is sufficient to thicken the sauce and thoroughly cook the meatballs. Use salt and pepper to taste to season.
  7. Capers and parsley are combined. This goes well with spaghetti and even more parmesan cheese, in my opinion.

Notes

Simply add an additional 1 tablespoon of flour to the butter and 2 teaspoons of grated parmesan to the sauce to prepare the dish with milk rather than cream. This will taste excellent, thicken the sauce well, and is a healthy alternative!
