How Do You Make It?
- Heat the ghee or coconut oil in a medium saucepan over medium heat. Sauté for 3-5 minutes, or until the onion is transparent.
- Stir in the other ingredients until well combined. Bring the sauce to a low simmer for 15-20 minutes after bringing it to a mild boil.
- Carefully transfer the mixture to the blender (it will be extremely hot!). Blend on high until completely smooth. Add salt to taste.
How long will BBQ Sauce last in the refrigerator?
Transfer the sauce to an airtight jar once it has totally cooled. It will keep in the fridge for up to two weeks. In a freezer-safe container or ziplock bag, the whole30 BBQ sauce freezes wonderfully. Refrigerate or defrost at room temperature.

- 1 cup Vidalia or yellow onion diced
- 1/2 cup dates chopped
- 3-4 cloves of garlic minced
- 1 teaspoon mustard powder
- 4 tablespoons apple cider vinegar
- 1 tablespoon smoked paprika plus more if you prefer a smokier flavor
- 1 6- ounce can tomato paste
- 1/2 cup coconut aminos
- 1 cup water or chicken stock
