For sweltering summer days, make this delectable, cooling salad. It’s the ideal balance of salty and sweet thanks to the addition of feta, avocado, mint, and lime.
I can’t get enough of salads made from a variety of peak-season fruits and vegetables once summer arrives. I adore a good sweet and savory mix, and this watermelon salad with feta, mint, avocado and a zesty lime dressing is just that.
Every year, as soon as I see a good watermelon, I dash home to prepare this dish. It comes together quickly and is wonderfully reviving. Once you give it a try, you’ll be making it frequently for the remainder of the watermelon season.
INGREDIENTS FOR A WATERMELON SALAD RECIPE
Make this recipe right away if you’ve never had watermelon in a savory environment. The melon, which is juicy and fresh, pairs incredibly well with the salad’s other creamy, crisp, acidic, and spicy ingredients. What makes it so tasty is as follows:
- Red onions provide a flavorful taste and crunchy texture.
- Add cucumber for a refreshing, crunchy flavor.
- Feta cheese for a creamy, tangy component
- Avocado, for added smoothness. Additionally, watermelon, lime, and avocado are a marriage made in heaven.
- For fresh herbal overtones, use mint and basil (one of my personal favorite combinations is mint and watermelon)!
- Serrano pepper, for a little heat (if you like, these are optional)
- And to bring it all together, a zingy lime dressing.
VARIETY OF WATERMELON FETS SALAD RECIPES
It’s fun to experiment with this salad of watermelon and feta. Here are some of my preferred methods for varying it:
- dislike spices? Skip the chile, and this salad will still be great.
- With a handful of toasted walnuts or cashews, you can add a little crunch.
- Serve this salad alongside some quinoa to turn it into a complete meal.
- Alternately, swap out the watermelon for strawberries to mix up the fruit.
Please share any modifications you try!
SERVING SUGGESTIONS FOR WATERMELON SALAD
I adore making this salad for outdoor barbecues. It combines wonderfully with whatever you’re grilling, whether it be portobello mushroom burgers or dogs, black bean burgers, vegetable burgers, or corn on the cob.
It pairs well with sandwiches for outside eating, such as these Caprese sandwiches, these BBQ jackfruit sandwiches, these chickpea shawarma wraps, or these mushroom po’ boys.
Make watermelon margaritas if you have extra melon on hand! If you don’t have any extra watermelon, a basic margarita is always a safe bet.
WATERMELON SALAD
Our favorite summer side dish is this cool watermelon salad. The acidic, creamy, and fresh flavors of feta, mint, and avocado perfectly balance the sweetness of the watermelon.
