Sweet and savory On practically any plate, oyster mushrooms are a fantastic compliment!
In a pan, butter, garlic, and mushrooms work very well together. Oyster mushrooms are cooked until golden brown and covered in a delightful garlic and butter sauce. They have a mild flavor and a delicate texture.
How do oyster mushrooms grow?
A particular kind of mushroom that grows on wood is the oyster mushroom (not in the ground).
There are numerous varieties of oyster mushrooms, but two of the most well-known are Pearl and King. These pictures show a cluster of pearl oyster mushrooms that grow on a sizable base. The single-king oyster mushroom is bigger.
They are frequently used in Chinese or Japanese cuisine and are delicious in stir-fries or added to practically any dish that calls for other kinds of mushrooms.
They have a meatier, slightly dryer feel than plain button or cremini mushrooms.

Components & Alterations
OYSTER MUSHROOMS: I frequently purchase oyster mushrooms at the farmer’s market in the summer, even though they are not always that simple to find in the store (ask the grocer if you don’t see them). Or try using a DIY mushroom kit to cultivate some.
Garlic Butter: A very straightforward and sparsely formulated sauce is used to sauté the mushrooms. Olive oil, garlic, soy sauce, and a small amount of butter. This dish isn’t overly difficult, but it is incredibly tasty.
Variations include substituting cremini or shiitake mushrooms for the oyster. Add your preferred salty flavors or spices!
Make Fried Oyster Mushrooms at Home
If necessary, clean the mushrooms with a moist cloth. Remove any woody stalks.
Melt some olive oil in a pan. According to the recipe below, toss mushrooms with soy sauce and fry them until one side is just faintly browned.
Mushrooms should be pushed aside. Butter and garlic should be added and cooked until aromatic. If desired, add herbs.
How to Keep?
The mushrooms shouldn’t be kept in plastic. Remove the plastic wrap and keep them in a paper bag or cover it with a damp paper towel if you bought them in a box or plastic wrap. The same holds if they are loose. Before cooking, they will remain fresh for a few days.
You may reheat mushrooms in a pan over the stove. Cook the food in the pan with some butter until thoroughly cooked.
Ingredients
- 1 ½ pounds oyster mushrooms
- 2 teaspoons olive oil
- 1 teaspoon soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon butter
- fresh parsley or herbs to taste chopped, salt, and pepper to taste
- 1 clove garlic minced
Instructions
- If necessary, use a damp paper towel to wipe the oyster mushrooms clean of any dirt or debris.
- Individual oyster mushrooms should be sliced (and cut in half if they are large). Half of the bottom stem should be removed.
- Over medium heat, warm the olive oil in a skillet. Soy sauce the mushrooms, then add them to the skillet.
- Mushrooms should simmer for 3–4 minutes, or until browned on one side, without stirring after being gently coated with oil and stirred. As you stir, keep cooking the mushrooms until they are done.
- Move the mushrooms to the side of the pan and then add the butter and garlic. 30 seconds of cooking time or until aromatic. Add the stir-fry to the mushrooms and heat for another minute.
- Add parsley, salt, and pepper to taste when seasoning.
Notes
When cleaning mushrooms, it is recommended to use a damp paper towel because it will absorb water. If you must rinse them, move swiftly.
It is best to cut off the bottom of the stem because it can be tough.
Before serving, any fresh herbs can be added.
