Creamy garlic sauce smothers juicy, plump shrimp. You can prepare this creamy garlic shrimp today and have it on the table in only 15 minutes. It tastes opulent, and indulgent, and is a pure and total delight.
One of my favorite proteins is garlic shrimp because it cooks up so quickly and because really good quality pre-peeled frozen shrimp is now available even at stores.
Even though fresh seafood is always preferable, pre-peeled frozen shrimp are incredibly convenient for busy weeknights.
Additionally, the flavor combination of CREAM, GARLIC, and SHRIMP is quite difficult to top as a guaranteed crowd favorite. That sauce… that sauce is simply AMAZING.
The cream is combined with the brown bits left behind from cooking the shrimp in the skillet, creating the finest stock base ever. EVER!
This recipe is really simple to follow. I just slightly deviate from most recipes by adding the garlic after the shrimp have partially cooked.
This is because, if the garlic is added last, it will be scorched by the time the garlic is cooked. Small, bitter pieces of burnt garlic are unpleasant, and they don’t look well in a creamy white sauce.
Therefore, by adding it later, you get all the flavor without burning it. 🙂
Add some parmesan cheese, which is my final small piece of advice. It gives the sauce an additional flavor component called umami, which transforms it from “yum” to “sooooo good”! Freshly grated parmesan is preferred over store-bought since it is finer and will melt in the sauce.
The same is true for Alfredo and any other creamy sauces that include parmesan cheese; store-bought parmesan won’t entirely melt, leaving behind gritty pieces in the sauce rather than a silky consistency.
I enjoy serving this creamy garlic shrimp over mashed potatoes or spaghetti. In the image below, I added a few fresh flavor pops to the potato by using chopped onions. Dinner is ready with just a simple side salad of leafy greens and a few lemon slices!
Enjoy!
