These rich and savory cheese scones are packed with cheddar flavor(Cheddar Cheese Scones )and make the ideal breakfast, brunch, or side dish for a warm bowl of stew.

Not only Cheddar cheese scones are simple to cook, but I’ve also provided my best advice to make sure they always turn out soft and light. Butter should be used to serve these hot out of the oven.

Scones with Cheddar Cheese

The English equivalent of American biscuits is scones, which have been upgraded for all-day consumption.

Although fruits (such as blueberries or cranberries) are frequently added to scones, I prefer a savory addition, such as Cabot Seriously Sharp Cheddar and a dash of chives.

These scones aren’t dense like some store-bought scones can be. They have a deep, delicious cheddar cheese flavor and are very light and fluffy.

All you need to create them is a bowl, a wooden spoon, and some excellent cheese. They are quick and simple to prepare.

What is in Cheddar cheese scones?

BASE Flour, cream, and eggs are the basic ingredients of this recipe, and baking powder is added to the eggs to help them rise.

CHEESE Here’s where the magic happens, and since the cheese gives these scones such a rich flavor, I went with Cabot Seriously Sharp Cheddar Cheese.

Every taste of this cheese is flavorful because of its delightful richness. To ensure that the savory flavor is visible throughout the flaky layers, the cheese is incorporated into the dough.

Over 800 farm families in New York and New England collectively possess Cabot. The best cheeses, which are completely naturally aged and lactose-free, are produced there.

The fact that they are a B corporation certifies that their social and environmental performance meets the highest requirements.

Although Cabot Seriously Sharp gives these scones a wonderful taste boost, you can replace them with any of the following additions to make them uniquely yours.

  • Try the Smoked Bacon Cheddar with some green onions on top.
  • Make Roasted Garlic Cheddar with some fresh chives
  • Cracked Peppercorn Cheddar with a touch of fresh rosemary. Butter Scones

Make Cheese Scones at Home

Here are some of my favorite tips for making scones, which are incredibly simple to make:

  • Use chilled butter and store it in the refrigerator until needed. Layers and a flaky texture are produced by the pockets the cold butter forms.
  • Instead of using a mixer, combine the dough with a spoon and pastry cutter. Before incorporating the liquid, fold the cheese into the flour mixture.
  • Try to handle the dough as little as possible by working fast.
  • If necessary, lightly dust your surface when patting out the dough; I like to work on parchment paper. To avoid making the dough overly dense, try not to add too much extra flour.

Storage Advice for Scones

Scones can be frozen before baking, so you can always enjoy them warm out of the oven!

  • Prepare scones as specified and cut them into wedges to freeze before baking. On a baking sheet, freeze until solid. Once solid, store for up to 3 months in a sealed freezer bag.
  • When baking from frozen, take the scones out of the freezer for around 20 minutes (while the oven preheats). The oven should be preheated to 400°F. Bake for 18 to 22 minutes, or until thoroughly cooked.

  1. Set the oven to 400 °F.
  2. When the mixture resembles coarse crumbs, combine the dry ingredients in a bowl and, using a pastry cutter, cut in the butter. Cheese should be added, then combined.
  3. Cream and eggs should be combined. Just until a dough forms, combine the egg mixture with the flour mixture.
  4. Knead dough by folding and gently pressing dough for 10 to 12 strokes, or until nearly smooth, on a lightly dusted surface. Cut the 8-inch circle of dough into 8 wedges.
  5. On an oiled baking sheet, space the wedges 1 inch apart. Use milk to brush.
until golden, 18 to 22 minutes of baking. Scones should be taken from the baking pan. Allow cooling a bit.
  6. Mix the ingredients for the chive butter. Serve with a brush over the warm scones.

Scones can be stored for about two days at room temperature in a zippered bag or an airtight container. To help them stay fresher longer, include a piece of bread in the bag with them to absorb moisture.
