Biography

Early Years of Sally

Sally Matterson was raised in a rural area in Australia. Growing up, she was active and healthy and had a love of fashion.

When Sally was 12 years old, her family relocated from the country to Sydney as a result of this enthusiasm. This allowed her to pursue a career in fashion design.

A Different Course

Sally recognized she was “the most stressed out, unhealthy, and miserable” she had ever been after working in the fashion industry for a while. She claimed that when she glanced at the individuals working in the field, they were “tired and worn out.”

Sally decided not to take the same route and gave up on her early ambition of becoming a fashion designer in favor of pursuing a career in fitness.

Bikini contestant

She started concentrating her leisure time on weightlifting and dieting after that. She worked hard and saw a quick change in her body. Her need to test her abilities against others led her to begin competing in bikini shows.

Her first competition was in 2009, the same year she won the WNBF Asia Pacific and the Best Body Bikini titles in Sydney.

Sally began to practice more intensely than ever to repeat her early accomplishment. She returned to the stage after spending more than a year refining her figure, and she did not let everyone down.

ANB Australia Fitness Model, ANB Asia Pacific Fitness Model, INBA Universe International Sports model, and INBA Lifestyle Classic Sports model were among the astounding five trophies she won in her comeback year.

Achievement on Stage

Sally won the INBA Sydney Fitness Model competition to kick off 2012. But a few months later, when she traveled to the United States to compete in the NPC Los Angeles Tournament of Champions, she faced her first significant test.

Sally won the prize in the Bikini Tall division thanks to her physique and remarkable overall muscle growth.

She won first place in the IFBB NSW Bikini Model competition, which served as her final show of the year.

At the IFBB Fit X Australia, the INBA Sydney Fitness Model category, and the INBA USA International Forever, LV, Nevada, she achieved a triumph in 2013.

Increasing the Effect

Sally decided to quench her ambition for advancement in other spheres of her life following her triumph at the INBA USA International Forever in Las Vegas. She took a break from performing and entered the worlds of modeling and coaching online.

Sally has now established herself as a fitness model, author, and personal trainer. Additionally, she started her own “body sculpting and fat loss” business.

Her success both on and off the stage reverberated throughout the bodybuilding community, and she went on to become an Australian fitness superstar.

“I love the way I feel after detox. Not easy, but I can really notice the difference in my mid-section.”

Training

High-Intensity Training

Sally occasionally prefers full-body workouts to body-part split regimens. She claims that it intensifies and makes the training more fascinating.

Sally makes sure to employ high volume throughout the off-season, which entails lifting weights for at least 50 minutes, 4-5 days per week, with no fewer than 5 sets per exercise.

However, she will boost the number of workouts each week to seven when she is getting ready for a performance.

She doesn’t engage in a lot of aerobic activity since she thinks that eating a healthy diet is sufficient for maintaining lean body weight.

Favorite Exercises and Exercises You Hate

Sally enjoys doing snatch-grip deadlifts, snatch-grip dumbbells behind the neck shoulder presses, and neutral grip chin-ups.

She dislikes exercising with her calves the least, on the other hand.

Beginner Mistakes

Sally claims that exercising nonstop cardio is insufficient on its own. She claims that neglecting to lift weights is one of the biggest blunders women make while trying to get a bikini physique. She claims that the secret to developing a finely-toned figure is resistance training.

Sally also acknowledged the error of not receiving adequate direction at first. She advised hiring a coach if at all possible because they considerably reduce “the learning curve.”

“Load day always makes my mid-section leaner. When done properly load day works! So my Shredders, you can have your cake and eat it too.”

Nutrition

Diet High in Protein

Sally Matterson makes it a point to eat 120 grams or more of protein each day. This, according to her, equates to around 700 grams of meat each day. This diet, which includes good fats and plant-based carbohydrates, has worked well for Australian.

She maintained this type of diet throughout her preparation for competitions and even throughout the off-season because she had had great success with it. Sally tries to stay away from dairy due to lactose and wheat because of gluten to maintain good digestive health.

She claimed that the Greek word for “protein” implies “of prime importance.” She claims that she constantly keeps it in mind when making dietary decisions because protein is an essential component of muscle growth and recovery.

Strawberries topped with melted dark chocolate are her go-to cheat food. She occasionally drinks a glass of red wine as well.

Top 5 Nutrition Tips

  • “Find out how much protein you should be eating”
  • “Invest the money in pharmaceutical grade supplementation that helps with stress and aid detoxification”
  • “Dark leafy greens”
  • “Eat good Fat to burn Fat”
  • “Enjoy your rewards when you have them!”

Supplements

If she could take only five different supplements, Sally said it would be these;

  • Omega 3 liquid fish oil
  • Multivitamin
  • DIM
  • HCL
  • BCAAs

Influences and Idols

Sally admires several people, including CT Fletcher, Danie McDonald, Amanda Latona, Michelle Bridges, and Charles Poliquin.

One of her favorite role models is CT, who inspired her to continually push herself in the gym. Sally’s former coach and mentor, Danie McDonald, gave her business advice and training.

Sally concluded by mentioning Amanda Latona as someone whose incredible aesthetic physique, particularly her legs and glutes, she has long loved.

What Sally Matterson Can Teach Us?

Sally Matterson has demonstrated that it is possible to pursue multiple passions. She believed throughout her childhood and adolescence that she would become a successful fashion designer.

But after working in the field for a while, she concluded that it wasn’t the appropriate fit for her. She no longer had the same aim, but she didn’t just give up; instead, she forged her way.

She became a fitness icon and a role model for everyone who might encounter similar circumstances as a result of her commitment to fitness.
