Biography
difficult childhood
In 1989, Sophie Aris was born in Cheshire, England, and spent her formative years there. Things in her life were routine during her time in high school, until one day when they started to go south.
Sophie started to experience bullying when she started hearing harsh comments about her weight and being called “tree trunk legs.”
From this point on, Sophie quickly started to fall downward, with poor self-esteem taking control of her life.
But when Sophie’s grandparents both passed away suddenly, the situation became even worse.
Sophie’s life descended into misery as a result of this and the fact that her parent’s marriage had failed.
As a result, Sophie had a hard time adjusting.
Her self-confidence was at an all-time low. She started binge eating as a result of this because it was the only way she knew how to cope with the unpleasant aspects of her life.
Changing Things
Sophie took a girl’s trip to Cyprus soon after beginning college. She fretted about what other people would think of her figure and rapidly started to feel self-conscious about it. Sophie experienced this as feeling out of place and uneasy in her skin.
But Sophie finally had enough and made a decision. It was either now or never for her to alter her behavior. Sophie’s fitness journey officially began at that point.
At this point, Sophie started going to the gym frequently to work out. Her objective was to go past her worst moments and have a body she was proud of.
Sophie, however, made little progress. She avoided the weight room out of fear that people would judge her, so she just did cardio. This was a spillover from Sophie’s challenging experiences during her time in high school.
Finding Exercise
Sophie was first hesitant to begin lifting weights. She avoided lifting weights because she was concerned that people would gaze at her while she was working out.
But she quickly chose to go through with it. When Sophie went to her first training session with a personal trainer she had met, her perspective on fitness completely shifted. She was eager to build on this as a result, saying:
“I was definitely among the girls who believed that doing weights resulted in being ‘bulky,’ but I soon realized this wasn’t the case.
The sooner you realize that working out at the gym is a learning process, the better.
Sophie’s trainer gave her some fundamental knowledge about fitness nutrition. She soon started conducting studies on healthy eating to change her poor diet. She never looked back after that.
Sophie started to become quite interested in fitness. She had now laid the groundwork for a better life for herself and had overcome obstacles on the way.
Education Career
Sophie had started a career as a secondary school teacher before she discovered her newfound love for fitness. She had a passion for art and pursued it throughout her academic career.
Since Sophie was then a full-time teacher, her goals for getting healthy initially suffered. She did not succeed in moving forward as she had intended.
Sophie realized that to achieve her fitness objectives, she would need to alter them.
Sophie didn’t decide to stop teaching, though, until she went to watch a buddy compete in a bodybuilding contest.
Instead, she started working part-time as a teacher after deciding that she wanted to pursue a different career path by competing in bodybuilding.
Starting Out Competing
In May 2014, Sophie was a spectator at the UKBFF North West Qualifiers. She used to look down on competitors because of the attire they wore on stage before the competition.
But on this particular day, her perception of bodybuilding completely shifted.
When Sophie first decided she wanted to follow in their footsteps and compete on the bodybuilding stage, she described it as follows:
“I first felt inspired after I noticed the women competing in the bikini division. Before this, I compared “bikini fitness” competitors to strippers.
They must be so attention-seeking that they would want to parade around in a little, sparkly bikini, I reasoned. But at the exhibition, I wasn’t only amazed by the women’s great bodies; I also realized how much effort it had taken for them to get there.
Sophie was resolved to participate in the same tournament the following year after this incident.
Soon after, Sophie started lifting weights in the gym to work toward her objective. She had previously been reluctant to do this because of her fear.
Fast forward to the following year, when Sophie accomplished her objective of winning her division on the same stage where she had only watched as a spectator the previous year.
