Starlet Dugard is the daughter of Jaycee Dugard, a former prisoner who rose to fame following the publication of the memoir “A Stolen Life.” The books, which her mother wrote, described the battle Starlet and her mother faced while they were held captive.

Starlet’s mother was kidnapped by Phillip and Nancy Garrido when she was just 11 years old, and they kept her captive for 18 years. Additionally, while she was held hostage, she gave birth to her two children, Starlet Dugard and Angel. So, how did they get out of there? The sisters of Dugard are currently where? What do they currently do?

Let’s discover more fascinating information about Starlet, such as her background, personal life, and more.

At Age 17, Starlet Dugard Gave Birth to her Captor’s Mother

On November 13, 1997, Starlet Dugard was born to her mother Jaycee Dugard through her captor Phillip. Her mother was only 17 years old when she was born.

She was both born and raised in the California backyard of their captor’s home. When Jaycee was just 11 years old, Phillip and his wife Nancy Garrido allegedly abducted her.

She had a traumatic upbringing growing up in such surroundings. Her mother tried her best to provide for them despite the bizarre circumstances. Despite barely having completed the fifth grade, she reportedly began homeschooling her two daughters.

Jaycee, Starlet’s mother, was not taken to the hospital when Starlet was born. When the Garridos learned that she was experiencing labor pains, they gave her a medication called codeine and forced her to view movies of childbirth to teach her how to deliver a baby on her own.

Starlet Dugard considered her mother to be her Sibling

When their mother gave birth to Starlet Dugard and Angel Dugard, they were both quite young. Because that is what the Garridos told the children, she and her sister Angel used to think of their mother’s abuser Phillip and Nancy as their parents and their mother as a sister.

The same, according to Hollywoodlife

One of the trickier parts of the girls’ transition process was letting them know that Jaycee was their mother and not their sister, as the Garridos had taught them.

Furthermore, Starlet’s mother still thought of Philip as her child’s father up until a few years ago despite going through a lot. Jaycee also said she would respect her children’s decision if they chose to see their father in person even though she would not want her daughters to see their father in person. Additionally, she added,

“I would hope they wouldn’t want to, but as long as they’re secure and he’s in jail, I wouldn’t stand in the way of their making that decision,”

Jaycee, the mother of Starlet Dugard, had her first child with her older sister

At the age of 13, Jaycee became pregnant with her first child, Angel Dugard. Before learning that she would give birth to a child at the age of 14, she had no idea what she was going through. Regarding the subject, she remarked,

“I don’t know how I managed to keep it together or, you know, I must have been checked out on another level,” the speaker said. Although I was present, I wasn’t for all of it because it was terrible enough on its own. But how did I manage that when I was by myself?

Even yet, she said that she was unsure of how she managed to survive. She did, however, also admit that she was overjoyed to see her daughter’s face.

The Biological Father of Starlet Dugard was a Serial Offender

As previously mentioned, Jaycee Dugard, the mother of Starlet, was abducted in 1991 at the age of 11 from a bus stop close to Lake Tahoe. She admitted that Phillip had raped and mistreated her while she was his prisoner, which had caused her to become pregnant.

Speaking of Phillips Garrido, he was born in Pittsburg, California, on April 5, 1951. According to allegations, he was a serial rapist, pedophile, abductor, and hebephile. In addition, he had a long list of prior criminal charges before he was imprisoned in Jaycee’s case.

He was accused of harassing a 14-year-old girl sexually, but the case was dropped because the girl declined to give a statement. Garrido wed Christine Murphy, a classmate, later in 1973. After raping her for 8 hours in a leased storage container, he was also given a 15-year prison term. He was abusive, though, and when she tried to leave him, he kidnapped her. Philip was also identified as a “sexual deviant and chronic drug abuser” in a 1976 court evaluation.

After 18 Years, Starlet’s Mother Has at Last Escaped From Captivity

After a female police officer named Lisa Campell became suspicious of Garrido’s actions and whereabouts at the University of California, where he had purportedly traveled with his two daughters to obtain permission to distribute religious leaflets, the odyssey came to an end.

Campell, the special events manager at UC Berkeley who is 40 years old, reportedly recognized Phillip’s mental instability right away. Not only that, but his kids who were born to Jaycee also appeared pallid and had an oddly vacant gaze.

To find out that Garrido was a sex offender, she did a background check while she was still asking him to arrive on August 25 a day later. A day after his return, Garrido continued by stating that he was on parole for the 33-year-old incident, which involved rape and kidnapping.

Despite Campell’s fervent desire to confront him, she was unable to take legal action. Things changed, though, when she got in touch with Garrido’s parole officer at the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation, who revealed that, contrary to what he had claimed, Garrido didn’t have a daughter.

After admitting to his act, Garrido and his wife Nancy were ultimately detained on August 26, 2009. 13 counts of sexual assault and one count of kidnapping led to Phillip’s 431-year prison term.

The location where Jaycee spent 18 years as a Captive

Jaycee was imprisoned by Phillip and Nancy Garrido for 18 years in their backyard.
Nancy received a similar sentence, receiving 36 years to life in jail for rape by force, kidnapping, and violating California’s “one strike” rape legislation.
