PEAS If fresh peas are available, they’ll taste fantastic, but they can be difficult to locate. Instead, try using frozen peas (which is what I typically do) in this recipe!

Fresh peas require a little more time to cook than dried ones. Before serving, make sure they are tender.

CORN SAUCE This recipe is definitely one to keep because of the flour, cream, seasonings, and some butter.

Variations

We have some suggestions for improving them! Include any of the next.

  • potatoes
  • ham (or bacon)

If desired, sprinkle cheese grated over the creamed peas.

Leftovers

  • In a sealed container, peas can be stored in the refrigerator for about 4 days. Serve after reheating in the microwave.
  • Pour chilled creamed peas into zippered bags, mark the outside with the date, and freeze for up to six months.
