Recently, there was a post on TikTok that gave a tip on the use of the pull cap on the bottle of the cooking oil. Cooking oil is a pantry staple and one uses it for frying, stir frying, sautéing, or baking. It is also used in small amounts for grilling and making salads, soups, sauces etc. There are many varieties of oils with different health quotients, smoke points, physical and chemical properties and flavors.

The use of the pull cap on the cooking oil bottle

People use different measuring tools to measure the cooking oil that they pour into their food dishes during the preparation stage. Teaspoons and tablespoons are the common measures that people use. But some cooks prefer to just pour the oil from the bottle. This is approximate and can lead to an enthusiastic cook pouring more and thus ruining the food dish. The dish might turn out to be greasy, heavy and not tasty.

In the viral TikTok post, the account user shared a clip in which the user is seen opening a cooking oil bottle with a ring pull cap. The user adds that one should not throw away the cap but put it back in place after opening.

And after that, one can turn the bottle upside down and then pour the oil. The cap now serves as a barrier and prevents large amounts of oil from going into the dish. One can easily control the oil that comes out of the bottle.

And a third user asked:

“Why don’t they say this on the bottle? It makes sense.”

And a fourth was a bit upset and wrote:

“Why didn’t I see this five minutes ago, I just threw mine away?”

But others felt that it was an unnecessary way and they preferred to do it in the traditional way. And one such person wrote:

“Without the cap, I’m able to still my olive oil the same way.”

And a second person said:

“I don’t understand the purpose of it.”
