Biography
Young Years
Tom Brazier claims that he was “the tiny kid” in his school for a large portion of his youth. He claims that during a particular summer break, he experienced a growth spurt that provided him with the self-assurance he needed to go to the gym.
Tom Brazier claims that at the age of 17, he was “out benching” both the lads in the year above him in school and the sports teacher from his school.
He thinks the respect he received from the more experienced players is what initially drew him to the sport, and he hasn’t looked back since.
He claims that after then, it was merely a matter of mastering the fundamentals. Before attending college, he took a year off to travel. When he returned to school at age 19, he bonded with a “Swedish gym addict” and started his studies.
He was thrilled to have made a friend who shared his interests right away because they could motivate one another to work hard in the gym.

Tom surprised himself with the muscle gains he was seeing as a result of his consistent exercise at the university.
He originally erred in his method by overtraining his upper body and undertraining his legs, but with help from his colleagues, he was able to create a full-body regimen.

Cardio
Tom spends a significant portion of his week working out. He claims that when doing high-density circuit-based resistance training, he does not necessarily need to do any cardio.
He claims that instead of spending 45 minutes on an elliptical machine, he would much rather “group 10 isolation/full body exercises together in succession with minimal recuperation.”
Cardio doesn’t, in his opinion, significantly affect how he trains for competitions. On the other hand, he views his diet as essential.
Nutrition
University Diet Is Poor
Tom claims that he occasionally consumed entirely too much food while in college. He recalls eating a “MASSIVE bowl of pasta, with approximately 1/2 jar of mayonnaise, 2 cans of tuna, and about 6 diced up boiled eggs!” as one of his worst meals.
His gains increased and his physique got better as he gained more knowledge about calorie consumption and created a more specialized diet.
This taught him the value of a healthy diet for bodybuilding, which in turn inspired him to create new dieting strategies that suited his demands.
Exercise Diet
To lose weight before a competition, Tom uses carb cycling in his diet. He alternates between days with high and low carbohydrate intake, allowing his body to both develop muscle and burn fat at the same time.
He claims that before a show, he often alternates between 2 low days and 1 high day in the beginning. His typical daily caloric consumption targets are as follows:
- Low day – 2900kcal (280g Protein/150g Carbs/130g Fat)
- High day – 3900kcal (280g Protein/400g Carbs/130g Fat)
His low days can go as low as 2300 kcal on some days before a competition, with 250 g of protein, 50 g of carbs, and 122 g of fat.
