He was a child when his family left his own country and immigrated to New York, where he spent his formative years. He attended school and participated in a variety of sports there.

Victor’s coach saw his competitive drive and urged him to join the high school football team. Victor participated in baseball and basketball games in addition to football games.

Later, he switched readily to weightlifting, largely as a result of “reading and drawing Marvel Comic characters and watching WWF Wrestling,” according to Victor.

Bodybuilding

Victor’s interests drastically altered after he graduated from high school. He became addicted to the new bodybuilding lifestyle, and it didn’t take him long to start thinking about competing.

Victor “knew” that he would need to further develop his physique to participate in a bodybuilding stage, so he began working out regularly.

Victor’s persistent hard work eventually paid off, and by the time he was 19 years old, he was prepared for his very first competition.

When the time arrived for his very first performance in 1993 at Elmo’s Gym, Victor’s conditioning was sufficient to place him first in the teenage division. Victor claimed that he felt “exhilarated” and “ready for larger challenges” after the performance.

In 1994, he competed in his second show, where he finished 27th, leaving him upset. Victor then decided to take some time off from competing to concentrate on enhancing his underdeveloped body parts.

Victor’s choice turned out to be a wise one because he returned three years later and won the 1997 NPC New York Metropolitan Championships in addition to the 1997 NPC New Jersey Suburban State Bodybuilding Contest.

Dream Pro CardVíctor Martínez

2 years after Martnez’s victory at the NPC New York Metropolitan Championships, where he made his show debut and finished 27th. Even though he finished in 16th place, which was an enormous improvement over his prior finish, he was still not happy.

Victor qualified for the nationals, which was his best chance to obtain his Pro Card, thanks to his accomplishment in the NPC Junior USA show.

Victor appeared to be destined to win the renowned tournament based on his Mr. Olympia results throughout the years, but he was unfortunate all the way through. His highest finishes were third at Mr. Olympia in 2006 and second in 2007.

Victor took a break from the competition after finishing ninth at Mr. Olympia’s 2015 competition. He returned at the end of the year and won the IFBB Baltimore Pro.
